Title: Need help on vin
Post by: Ryanstalin on October 22, 2012, 05:33:41 PM
I was looking at a 04 Gsxr 1000 with a little more then 10k miles. For $2300 and from the pictures it looks very clean. But can anyone make sure the vin matches up JS1GT75A842105082. This is part of what he sent me.

Sent from my EVO using T n. As long as I'm dealing with Autotrader and they can ship the bike anywhere in the US .Because it is a large transaction, we will complete the deal only using an authorized third part like Autotrader because I already prearranged the whole process with them, using their escrow Safe Pay Program for bikes not listed on their website. The bike is located in the Autotrader warehouse in Houston,TX (ready for delivery).I will offer a 5-day period to inspect the bike from the moment you receive it, before I'll have your money. I think this is more than fair for both of us.The payment will be handled by Autotrader , and you will benefit of 5 days inspection time period (test drive) and the option to accept or reject the bike on my expense. If you are still interested just send me your full name and shipping address. I will forward your info to Autotrader and they will notify you about our deal.Thanks apatalk 2

JS1 = Suzuki motorcycle made in Japan
G = multi-cylinder sport street
T = 750-999cc (the 1000 is 998cc)
7 = 4-stroke I4
5 = 5th generation
A = base model
8 = check digit (0-9 or X in this position confirms a legitimate VIN code)
4 = 2004 model year
2 = factory code (Japan)
105082 = serial number

Punch that VIN into your google search.

Some things I saw:

http://motorcycleslog.com/asp/Item.asp?soldid=102991&make=Suzuki&theday=9%2F17%2F2011
Sold for $6000 one year ago in Louisville, KY. Now $2300? Something is not right.
10110 miles one year ago. Still about 10k miles? No one rode it and now $3700 less.  :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs:

If doing long distance purchase, pay $7 or so for a detailed vehicle history report or find someone that can look it up for you for free.

Best idea: BUY LOCAL!

Yep....just took the time to read through the posting...definitely a scam. They didn't even try to hide it well.

Unless you're also planning on sending money to the king of Nairobi, pass on this one.
