Title: This is why you change your spark plug wires.
Post by: crzydood17 on October 28, 2012, 12:12:19 AM
So sadly this thread cannot have pics.

I was riding up to the store today and on the way slid forward with my thighs firmly on the tank, I feel a HUGE pain come through my groin at about 3k rpm...

I jump back and it stops.

I slide back forward and keep on going no problems and then it happens again at about 3k partial throttle.

I feels like im getting shocked through well... anyway..

I reach down and check my spark plug wires, the left side is fine but the second I touch my right side plug I start getting shocked like crazy...

morel of the story is... change your wires before your willie gets electrocuted.

I figured that out on my XS650: I was out riding about an hour from home when it started raining.  As soon as it started raining I would get electrocuted every time I touched the clutch lever.  The ride home SUCKED, especially starting from a stop in 1st gear.  At least it wasn't my junk though.

Just wrap them with electrical tape and quit whining...... :thumb:

Do you have a set to swap out with though?

Either way, that's got to suck getting shocked through the balls. I don't even know if I would have shared this story or not..... Lol

Switch from metal lined underwear to rubber underwear  :bs:
Got metal body piercings down there? Other "pleasure" hardware that conducts electricity?

This happened to me on one of my mopeds... Shocked the mess out of my inner thigh.  Scared me so much i nearly jumped off going 30mph.  Happened twice before I was able to stop and get the wire covered.  Worked on mopeds long enough to always have electrical tape and zip ties on board.

I've never experienced anything like this in 28 years and 400,000 miles of riding on 4 Honda and 2 GS500 bikes.  Have ridden in the heaviest of rains for hours.  Only problem I've had with rain is having a cylinder cut out when the plug caps get wet and short out.  Keep the plug sealing rubber fresh and if your GS has plug wires still bonded tight in the coils leave them alone.  Once loosened you will have problems with them shorting out.

yeah, it seemed to be coming from my zipper through my groin and grounding on the handle bars. Was very strange and very painful.
