Title: 89 clip-on set for sale
Post by: adidasguy on October 30, 2012, 11:14:39 AM
I have one 89 set for sale. Superb condition. Bars straight and screw holes for bar ends all cleaned with a new tap. Ready to install.
Had a buyer back out so they are up for grabs.

These fit the 89-00 tanks. Per my long winded write-up on clip-ons, the 89's do not fit the larger 2001+ tanks.

$125 + postage

This set was on Junior. I had to switch to the Euro type-1 because the 89's are a little more forward and rubbed the fairing to lock the steering when the bike was off (that's the original 5-Stars aka TCP fairing sold long ago for the "E" model, mostly in Europe).

if you get some washers to put on the outside bolts, the 89's will fit the newer, larger tank. I have them on mine  :thumb:

Yep - that was noted and shown in my write-up. There are photos there, too.
Best way tomod them would be on a milling machine.

This is the link to my message posting on the bars. (It should be moved to the WIKI)

Adidas, I know you've thought about the Seattle machining club and making your own clip-on risers, why hasn't that happened yet?

I have too many. Need to sell some off before considering making my own from scratch. So far no interest in this set so why make more? Good bars are hard to find: most are bent or have broken screws in them.

Actually I'm thinking of setting up the CNC to cut out the indicator caps. Make them all in smoke and use colored LEDs under them. I'm going to try that next month.

No one wants a really good set of 89's?  :dunno_black:

while those are nice, I don't know about $125, I got mine for $50. Paint wasn't as nice, but straight and undamaged

This is why I avoid posting things for sale. Not to offend, but a for-sale gets into all kinds of little discussions and side topics.

I'll go back to waiting for people to ask me for parts in a PM.

I found I had a couple sets hidden away (and one of each style, too!). I can wait for someone to ask me for one rather than post a FS here.

Might put them up on ebay instead.

Still have 2 chain guards. Lots of wheels. Tail plastics. 2001+ seats. Half a ton of nuts & bolts (all cleaned, too).
If you need the parts, PM me.

May be interested...I have a Bonus Check coming on 11/7 (They are on to me...I don't just drink coffee and take up space here).  IF the US Government and the State of Ohio does not gouge me on taxes, I may take you up on the offer.

Don't hold them just for me though.

Not to offend

I for one, am offended good sir!  :flipoff:

I liked the thread you did last year where you inventoried up all stock you wanted to get rid of, and listed it all in one go.

Darn, look at me. Cluttering up the thread again.

Well, OK then.  I bow to your request.
I'll do another assorted parts thread as I collect stuff together that are extras.
