Convenience, mostly.

Tapatalk and other apps like it allow you set up logins for many forums from within a single screen, without having to manually save URL favorites and/or re-enter URLs each time. It also shows all new posts, without having to navigate into each sub-forum/thread to read new comments. If you only spend time on a single/small number of forums, it's probably not for you. If you don't have a smart phone (iOS, Android, etc) it's also probably not for you. However, if you are active on many different forums from your smart phone or other mobile/tablet device, it is more convenient and faster loading on a mobile device to use an app like Tapatalk.

Similarly, there's no reason to use the apps developed by websites (Amazon, Edmunds, AutoTrader, etc), because the sites function in the browser. Again, we're talking about convenience. Most sites are not as nicely formatted for use on mobile/tablet devices, and may not function as nicely/easily on the small screen of a mobile/tablet device. Additionally, they may not scale nicely for use on a mobile/tablet device. For example, a website that uses Flash will never load completely on a native iOS device. Those sites that have "mobile" pages that load strip out most of the useful functions in an effort to make them skinny/fast on a mobile device. :2guns:

Not trying to start a debate about why people should or shouldn't use the applications they choose to use...this topic has already been debated and beaten to death.

Not that anyone has noticed, but I've been really quiet around here since Tapatalk stopped working with the forum altogether.  :o

I just wanted to point out that Tapatalk's latest update includes a fix for crashes that occur due to ultra-large pics. Theoretically, this would correct the issue that led to Tapatalk's death on the forum.

Maybe we could give Tapatalk another go?

I never understood the reason to take some that already worked (your browser) and complicate things by adding 3rd party software on top of it to try to get to the same end result

Dunno how it is for others but I use it to post pictures from my iPhone instead of linking from Facebook

Ahh.... I see the problem now..... IPads and iPhones.

Don't you just hate how they restrict Flash and Java. ;)

Apple, the company that cried to our Congress and tried to make them belive jail breaking was a threat to our national security and tried to get it banned and outlawed. The same company that said, even though you bought and PAID for that device, it still belongs to them. The same company that claims patents that even now are being rejected by our patent offices. The same company that claims revolutionary changes with each device when it actually it is only revolutionary for their devices, not to technology as a whole as other companies had those ideas and features long ago. I can go on and on. I will never support or own one.

Back on track though, glad you got a browser that works for you. I don't care what you own. If it doesn't worth then it's useless no matter who makes it.

How are you posting pics on your android?
Are you uploading to a 3rd party website or what?

I always upload to a 3rd party Site. I use my Sky Drive for everything. There is an app for it on Android and you can set your device to upload all pics you take automatically. Then just post the links with the IMG tags

I wish you'd use something different to host you images.

Any post where you post images... as I scroll down as soon as it hits your images the scrolling lags and becomes unsmooth, jerky. Noone else's images do this, just you. Noone else hosts like you do, just you. Makes it hard to scroll on my phone too. Noone else's images are clickable, but yours are. Your image host is causing issues. Makes me Not want to open a thread if I see you posted last for fear I'll have to deal with your images - such as "What you do on your bike" thread.

On my Android devices I have both Chrome and Dolphin installed and dont have any issues viewing any images.

The problem with changing servers is I already have gigs and gigs pics/vids loaded on that site that are permission set at certain levels and all organized. Changing everything over to something else would be a nightmare
