Title: 'Torque' movie
Post by: Turkina on December 29, 2003, 05:25:17 PM
I'm going to jump the gun.  I doubt I will see that movie.  I've seen better CGI from the 80's, compared to what they are showing us in the commercials and trailers.  Really fake and lame.   For a stunt to work, it has to be somewhat believable!

Too bad this movie will most likely unleash a wave of squids.  Don't need some fools giving motorcyclists a bad name.

What do you guys think?

as if we dont have enough squids :nono: , id say alright if they keep it to either private property, or a race-track though :thumb:

a squid is some guy that "tries" to stunt his very first bike (liter bike) and doesnt even know how to ride. and the gear is all wrong. he spends 200 bucks on sun glasses instead of a helmet, 100 bucks on a pair of shorts instead of leather pants. 130 bucks on a shirt instead of leather jackets.

LMMFAO!  I've only been riding for a month or so and I already have seen people like that!  Hahahaha!  Squid, I like it!  That's great, thanks for the education. :)

You forgot the obvious parallel with the invertebrate of the same name...

They're both soft on the outside, and prone to abrasion when you drag them down a freeway at 80mph.

I thought it was because a squid only moves in quick forward burts but does not turn well.

brought to you by the makers of the fast and the furious!  at least it drove up the value of my car temporarily.  i don't think torque is going to help my gs much.

I didn't see Lamer Boyz and I won't see Torque.  I really want to see them racing through the forest on sport bikes  .  Why is it that some rapper has to have a lame cameo in these new car or bike movies?  I shouldn't complain about Ice Cube though because he has a bit of movie experience.  I thought Boyz N the Hood and Friday were cool.  Never saw Barbershop but I remember it had positive reviews.

OH, come on you all... two hotties in skin-tight leathers kung-fu fighting while riding down main-street on sport-bikes.... that happens ALL THE TIME around here... fake... sheesh.  :P

My favorite part of the trailer is when the dude on the cruiser takes his right hand off the bars to shoot at someone behind him, and his engine continues to rev. .. Kerry showed him how to put  in a throttle-lock?  :dunno:

I don't know if i'll see it.  It looks really lame.  I'm into more realistic movies.  Probly why I never saw any of the Lord of the rings or Harry Potter movies.  Lets try to keep it real!

I am so ashamed that they used a Triumph Daytona 955 for one of the feature bikes. :(

Why do you want to "keep it real"?  That's too boring.  You have that in every day life.  Use your imagination, man!  That's the beauty of the newest computer movie graphics.  There's probably no way a production like Lord of the Rings could have been made over 10 years ago with the same degree of detail in the scenes.   And modeling would have been a nightmare + not to mention how long that would have taken to create.

I'll agree that many of the computer-aided stunts in movies these days are overdone, like those in the Matrix movies.  That slow motion 3-D effect thing is just too much, IMO.  At least the Matrix Reloaded had proper V-twin sound effects in the motorcycle chase scene.  Other than that I thought that movie sucked.

And my favorite kind of squid... The harley squid.... He does have leather, but its a sleeveless vest, a 1/8 head helmet, chrome sun glasses, and miles of fringe... The bike also is decked in chrome, a $4000 paint job, but he is quite safe in reality cos he only rides bar to bar, and the bike never goes over 15 mph if it will even leave the driveway.
Cool.

I've always thought that the Matrix was one of the few movies that managed to pull off the overdone effects on the premise that its SUPPOSED to be unreal... its all supposed to be happening in virtual reality, so the story line lends itself to physically impossible stunts.

Where I get bucked is in movies (like Torque) where these overblown, physics defying stunts are sold as 'real' in the storyline.  Maybe that's splitting hairs, but that's my 2 cents on the computer generated stuff.

peace

See; kids see that stuff and try it and get hurt!  Biker Boyz seemed better than this one but even that was a little far fetched.  I just wanna see something that has a chance of happening; not just a bunch of computer aided stunts.

Sure, I'd like to see that in a current motorcycle movie also.  And a real storyline.  If the Torque characters were superheroes riding superhero bikes, maybe the stunts & computer aided stuff would be acceptable.
I think last night I called Torque "f-ing ghey" when we saw a commercial again for it on TV.  Yep, Fast & Furious meets Biker Boyz.

LMFAO!  I love this thread!  On another note, why hasn't anyone commenteed about that girl's spectacular backflip from one bike to the other while moving!  Now that was REAL!  LOL!  I saw Biker Boyz and although it was badder than bad it didn't deter me from learning to ride.  I'm actually glad that I saw it.  Has anyone noticed the trend in movies nowadays with motorcycle stunts?  They are constantly pulling off TOTALLY physically impossible stunts!  Does anyone remember Mission Impossible 2?  Yeah, that scene when Tom Cruise pulls an Endo 180 degree turn and lights up a car with an Uzi?  Yeah, that's right, if you haven't seen it, you've gotta.  Then there was the scene were he jumped off his bike into midair (20ft up!) and collided with another guy at about 80mph or so.  Then they both gleefully tumbled to the ground and proceeded to duke it out.  Classic B.S. there, Hahahhahahaha!

I seem to remember there being some pretty silly things in XXX too. Like nac nacs while accurately firing a sub-machine gun....or something along those lines. Good for a laugh at least.

I'm looking forward to the day "FASTER" comes out on DVD personally.  :thumb:

don't get me started on hollywood as religion or royalty.  i've done my share of time in dr's offices and dentists waiting rooms this december and if i have to look at one more people f***ing magazine that glamorizes hollywood freakin' idiots I'm gonna puke.  On the upside,  my dr's office today had the new national geographic magazine and  I've forgotten how cool that magazine is.

Oh and I'm also sick of jesse james and orange county choppers.  Not everyone in the world wants a stretched out hardtail.

jake.... pissed due to my root canal today.   :x

Whatayya mean these days?!  It's always been crooked here. you could call it the greedia. Just don't get black leather jacket syndrome, though. Not all from TV is bad. Hollywood - well, let's just say i'm glad The Lord of the Rings was made in New Zealand and not by Jerry Bruckheimer.
