I'm thinking about picking up this project bike, and I'd like you guy's opinion on it.

His son owes him $2000? What about his insurance? Do the math:
Kid+bike - insurance = father deserves to loose money

Seems only good part MIGHT be the engine. $500 for a good running engine.
You'll need wheels & tires: $300-$500
frame: $300 for good frame with title
Gauges: $100-$200
Misc stuff: unknown $100-$400
New tank: $250 average
Forks: $120-$300 for a good to perfect set
Probably the triple needs replacing, too: $50

You can get decent running bikes for $1200-$1500 ready to roll. $2000 for a really good one.

Offer $400 to haul away the piece of debris.

Thanks guys. I'm glad I asked first. I was almost set on it, wasn't sure about the frame. In Texas it seems more 2004+ models are going for $2500-3000. I'm still waiting for that good condition 2004 for $12k-15k.

If you want to arrange shipping, I have a nice 07 that needs nothing but a rider.
