Site is accessible without it, yes. However, I detest having to zoom in on a tiny webpage on my phone, which is why the Tapatalk app is so handy.

I hear ya. You should get that new Galaxy Note II

Seriously though, what kind of phone do you have?

I've resigned myself to the fact that it is low priority enough that it won't be fixed soon. The powers that be, are in charge. They may do as they wish.

Look at it this way...this is not a paid membership site. What I have learned from this site both GS 500 wise, and general tips, tricks, and a few laughs along the way is priceless.  Tapatalk won't replace or supplement that.

I zoom in on Safari on an AT&T iPhone 4S pretty good these days.

I have an iPhone 4S on Verizon...I just hate zooming in to read text. That, and the fact that the website pops up a message about Tapatalk every time I go there using my phone's browser.

This is not an invitation to debate Apple vs Android. I'm not interested in debating that again as I will never attempt to convince anyone to switch from Android to Apple & no one will convince me to do the reverse.  :thumb:

Zooming takes less than a a second. If you're in landscape the you likely already have two thumbs on the device already. It really sounds like you have your back to a wall. Changing devices isn't an option. No matter what browser you use, you are going to have to zoom because the screen is so small (3.5" +/- right?) and Tapatalk isn't working. Why not maybe pick us a used ipad? Of course they cost more than an Android tablet but hey, it will work. Sorry there aren't more options. You could PM John and see what his thoughts are.

It isn't that I can't zoom, I just don't like to have to do it. Zoomed in, I have to spend an inordinate amount of time scrolling down the page. This would be true regardless of what smartphone I have.

Tapatalk is nice because I can check into a bunch of forums in a short period of time without specifically navigating to each site, or waiting for a bookmark to load. Tapatalk on my iPhone, to anyone happening to glance over my shoulder, doesn't look any different than an email application. I have an iPad for home use, but it's a first gen device that is starting to get a bit buggy, mostly due to the fact that it has such sparse resources (single-core proc, 256 MB RAM). Websites, especially, are painful to use on the iPad because everything loads very slowly (not due to WiFi speed...other devices work quickly/normally on my WiFi).

You don't see the need/preference for the use of Tapatalk, I get that. However, it used to work, people who used it liked it, and now it's broken for this forum. I also get that this isn't a user-sponsored forum, so all site/server functionality work has to occur in John's free time & on his dime. He has stated in another thread that he's working on it, though no one has yet seen the fruits of this labor. If it's not going to be fixed, a statement to that effect would be appreciated, as would turning off the notification that Tapatalk can be used which pops up when navigating to the site using an iOS browser. :thumb:

I would shoot him a message just to see where things are at if anywhere at all. Never hurts to ask and he might have forgotten honestly. Who knows?
