I bought another GS500 that this guy had wrecked and it rides really well besides being ugly as shite. The only problem is when I come to a stop the oil pressure light comes on. Dont know what that could be and was wondering if anyone else had ever dealt with this or know what could be the issue. Otherwise the bike runs great besides having bent pegs and handlebars.
Its a 2007 gs500f if that helps
ive got unbent front pegs for $10+shipping :icon_mrgreen:
Is it that at idle or coming down from any higher RPM but oil light comes on? Might be a bad oil pump or wrong grade of oil.
try changing oil and filter lol
If it crashed maybe there is some sort of lose connection?
So I changed the oil and when I went to start it the engine sounded like it had no oil but i turned on choke and tried to let warm up. Started to smoke a little and still sounds like no oil is reaching the pistons. So I just turned off and walked away from it for the night. I put enough oil in and performed the change correctly. I am thinking something is going on with the way the oil is delivered throughout the engine. If anyone has any insight, would really appreciate it. For now I am looking at how to get the engine out of the frame so I can take it apart and look inside to see whats going on because the gaskets are all that liquid gasket stuff. Or maybe Ill just take off the oil cooler and look at that as there is a LOT of old oil around the connection points.
I bought two different 07s at two different times from two different people and both had spun rod bearings and both had good oil in them.
Im just sayin'..............
Would that be causing the problem I am having? I could upload a video of me starting it up so you could hear the sounds just dont really wanna give it any run time until I am sure that the oil is reaching the whole engine.
If the bearings are shot, you will have little to no oil pressure. A bad oil pump will also do it as will incorrect oil weight or any blockage.
