Hello new to the site.
Have a 09GS500 with only 7500 Km on it so far. (Cannot ride as much as I'd Like).
Recently was packing up for Winter Storage and was draining the Carb Bowls.
Had Frame Petcock to "ON" Position.
Fuel kept draining. Wouldn't Stop. Both Carbs.
Tried "RES" and "PRI" - No Change. Fuel Keeps Draining.
Past couple of winters done this and only a small amount of fuel drains from ea carb, when in "ON" Pos.
Checked web for help-Got to Kerry's site (very good site)-He wondered if any work was done recently.
Past Summer Did have valves adjustment done at Bike Shop.
Thought was, may be they mixed up the hose routing.
Double Checked the Hose routing. And all fuel hoses were routed correctly.
So pulled vacuum line off've frame petcock. Then Drained Carbs. Problem still present. Fuel Keeps Draining. Both Carbs.
Used bicycle pump and pumped a couple of shots of air into Frame Petcock Vacuum Outlet to try and reset diaphragm.
This solved the issue. Only small amount drained from ea Carb and then fuel stopped.
But for good measure I closed the tank petcock for the Winter storage.
I'm thinking about taking the Frame Petcock off the bike and opening it up to see If there is an issue with it.
May be some crap got into it, or the Diaphragm is damaged/ripped.
(1) Anyone have any experience with taking the Frame Petcock apart?
Looking on the Web It looks like Suzuki only has a complete Frame Petcock available (for just over $100).
(2) Does anyone know of any aftermarket frame petcock rebuild kits for this bike?
Any Help is Appreciated. Thank you in Advance.
Check this recently revived thread for good info on the workings of your frame petcock.
