I just installed my R6r shock and pulled the stock air box, disconnected Two hoses (vent??) one connects to the top and one connects to the bottom of the stock air box. I am going to install a K&N lunch box filter and there is nowhere to reconnect the hoses :dunno_black: Suggestions :embarrassed: Thanks.
Toss the bottom in the trash/spare parts bin. The top is the breather, either throw a filter on it or leave it disconnected.
Thanks for your response. My bike is an 07 and has the (PAIR system control valve) if I leave it open will it still work properly? what does it do? I want to make sure performace will not be affected and don't want mess the bike up if I need it. Thanks agin.

The Pulsed Secondary Air System (PAIR) blows pulses of air in the exhaust ports to burn unburnt gasses in the exhaust. This leads to lower emissions, and a happy EPA.
You don't need it, unless you are concerned with the environment, or live in states like California where they do emissions testing. Block off the PAIR system where it enters the exhaust ports on the engine and remove the whole thing IMHO. Look for older Hayabusa PAIR blockoff plates on Ebay. It will come with 4 plates. Buy them, and sell the other 2.
Plugging #8 will eliminate the PAIR's source of oxygen, rendering it useless. You only need the block off plates if you want to remove all of the plumbing in the photo.
(I plugged the equivalent hose on my '08 GSXF and it stopped all of the decell popping I was having with my Yoshi TRC)

There was a guy from AZ that said they did emissions testing on bikes in his state.

Ohio used to have the E-Check racket going as well. $20 per vehicle per year to have them checked. And if your older vehicle wouldn't pass you had to show proof that you had a garage do work to the vehicle to try to get it to pass up to some dollar amount. And if it still didn't pass they didn't care as long as you had the proof that you had had work done. So they really didn't care about the emissions, they just wanted the revenue! I don't know if it applied to motorcycles though because I didn't have one back then.

It didn't. Just cars and light trucks. They still have e-check in Cleveland.
since some of you have blocked the system off just wondering what you did to the hose that goes from the back of the pair to the vacuum hose on the bike...did you remove it and put a cap?

Cleveland area has e-check and we have it in Lake county too just easy of Cuyahoga county where Cleveland is located. I think Geauga county south of Lake still has it also. Not much to it now, they use to put an analyzer probe in the tailpipe connected to the computer and run the car with drive wheels on rollers but now they just pull car in and plug the puter into your module and read it w/o car running and if it checks ok nothing further. The puter check tests for mods to the emmisions system. When we got the 04 Elantra it was 4 years until first e-check was required on new cars and then every other year after that. Last time we got checked was no charge, the state paid the $20 fee out of some Fed fund they had received. Just a money maker for the people that built and run the checking stations and a pain in the butt for car owners. Never had e-checks for motorcycles here.

Bought a vacuum cap and capped it off. Then removed the entire PAIR completely. I think I gave it to someone on the board to help pass emissions...
I did that, too, on Phenix. Even though legally he is a 1993 due to VIN on the frame, he has a 2006 motor (with oil cooler mounted correctly). I used as nipple to cap off the PAIR stuff. I have quite a few PAIR systems with no idea what to do with them other than feed Mr. Dumpster. I have way too many parts. I found 5 sets of engine guards tonight. 4 different types! Selling the chrome ones.
I wish I had your inventory problem. I don't have the space, however.
