i was ridin down the road today and twon katanas road by. a 600 and a 750. it sounded horrible. it sounded like they both were overrevved. my ears were hurtin like hell. they road down about 1/8 mile and i could still hear the annoying whir. i dont thin iv ever heard anything so horrible. th bad part is the guys were doing mayb 85mph and they were layin on th tank.
ok thats good. had to get that one off.
edit
i think the 750 was a katana. im not sure if suzuki makes a katana 750 but the two looked nearly identical. except for the 600 on one and 750 on the other.
yes suzuki at least did make Katanas in 600 and 750 models. My local yamaha shop has a used one of each. 600 is blue and the 750 a nice deep red.
Sounds like typical squids. The cookie cutter in-line 4's do have an annoying buzzy whine that some find appealing. Me, I enjoy my two twins!
my friend had a katana 750 with a yoshimura muffler and it sounded awsome
The pre 98 or is that 99 Kat 750 had a super short stroke motor. The reasult was the bike made no power till ~8K, and all of a sudden it turned into a hayabusa on nitrous... The result... to be running 85 mph you had to be in ~3 or 4th gear revving 6.5-7K. I'll bet the noise was 90% that 750 and 10% the 600. Having owned 2 600's in the past, they feel, fit and ride just like a GS. They have that small bit of extra revs and power, and have the ~50 lbs of extra heft. In short, it just feels right.
Cool.

The Kat 600 I've heard with a Hindle pipe sounded great :)
very deep and not too loud
well this sounded horrible. it sounded like super huge bee in overdrive or something. it was awful.
