Title: Automatic cam chain tensioner
Post by: dgyver on January 01, 2004, 07:05:31 PM
While I was wrenching on my GS and having to remove & install the cam chain tensioner so many dang times (I did figure out a way to lock retracted so I didn't need to remove it every time) reminded me about something I read about the auto cam chain tensioner on the SV. They were failing and were replacing them with manual tensioners. Has the reliability of the automatic cam chain tensioner on the GS ever been an issue or problem? Is there a manual one available?

American Performance Engineering (APE)
Part #ST750GX (96-99 gsxr750/97-99 gsxr600)
I think it works for the SV650 too.

Thanks. I never had the tensioner out of my SV, but I have seen pics and they do look the same.
