Title: Suzuki GS500F Service Manual
Post by: rharding91 on December 14, 2012, 03:02:48 PM
Suzuki GS500E 1989-1999 Service Repair Manual
Suzuki GS500E 1989-1997 Haynes
Suzuki GS500E-F 1989-2009 Service Repair Manual

Link seller gave me. I can rehost somewhere else if stops working.

Bought this and thought I might share with you guys. They are all PDFs inside of a .rar file so you unzip then open with Adobe Reader.

Site owner edit: I do not support this because I am sure I will have liability for copyright infringement.  You can pm him or email him or call him and breathe heavily to him.  Just leave the site out of it.

I downloaded the 89-99 GS500E PDF manual from carl salter found by google search from their hugh list of free manuals some years ago.

http://www.carlsalter.com/download.asp?p=1133

I had a GS500F manual also PDF that covered all years that I downloaded from Parts Shark but seem to have lost in changing computers a while back.  Parts Shark still has manuals for Kawi and Yami but have deleted all the Suzi manuals for some reason.

I downloaded that link from the first post to open w/o saving and it was a rar file that wouldn't open, didn't mess with it just deleted it.

if you paid for them then you got had. It does not give the right to share if they are illegally obtained but apparently no-one seems to care anymore so go your hardest peeps

Why are you so dead set they are illegally obtained? I dont recall saying where i got them from just that i purchased them.
Title: Re: Suzuki GS500F Service Manual

Because they were never officially sold and released in digital form hence they are not legit and the company that officially produces them make no money off them.
Title: Re: Suzuki GS500F Service Manual
Post by: weedahoe on December 16, 2012, 08:37:06 PM
So what you're say then is since the company never officially made them in digital format but rather some person took the time to make them digital then that person owns it actual and not the company right? ;)

Whatever you buy, unless there is a specific license for re-distribution, you can't until the copyright expires.

It is OK for you to loan a book to a friend. It is not OK to duplicate that book and give it away.

Fair-Use laws allow portions to be copied for purposes of editorial content (as in a review) or some for instructional use.
Fair-Use allows you to copy it for your own use or backup/archival purposes. I have all the manuals. I can copy a section to use in the Bike Cave so I do not damage the original. I can not copy a section and give it away or sell it.

If you bought a book or PDF, you don't own the content and can not duplicate it and distribute it.

If sites offer free (possibly bootleg or illegal copies) then let them. I feel we should stay legal here.

It is like buying parts from your local dealer. If you don't support your local dealer, soon you won't have one. If you don't support authors and printing companies by purchasing a book, soon you won't be able to get them.

Being in the software writing business for many many years, I have seem many excellent companies and programs go out of existence because people bootlegged it all over the place and the company made squat for all their work.

PS to Weed: Just because someone scans a book does not give them permission or the right to sell it. Go copy a Harry Potter book and start selling  your copies. You won't last long. Due to the limited demand got GS500 manuals, Suzuki probably doesn't care and sees no need to spend thousands to prosecute someone for some obscure manual for a bike no longer manufactured. Prosecution depends a lot on if they would get their money back, the financial impact of the illegal copying and other factors.

It's okay Addidas. I was just teasing Codajastal. That's why I put a smiley behind it.

You guys are getting a little hostile over this PDF.

I'm not getting into the right or wrong of this but I don't think Haynes is going out of business anytime soon and I'm sure they know their books are floating around in many download servers and being sold on ebay. Ebay has a copyright department and things in violation can easily and quickly be removed it they wanted it to be.

My thought is a book with poor pictures and poorly written info (written at the time of when the bike actually came out) for a bike that essentially is 23 years old really isn't the top of their priority or concern.

He seems immune to teasing. We have to come up with something more himiliating to do to him - like this:

We have an insurance company in the USA called Progressive.  Their add campaign has this woman named 'flo' that is trying to save people money.  The commercials are either funny or annoying, depending on your mood.

Down under things go opposite. They are not progressive but regressive. And things flo in the opposite direction. They may have a "Flo", but it would be backwards from our Flo.

Because they were never officially sold and released in digital form hence they are not legit and the company that officially produces them make no money off them.

So your telling me every mechanics shop or dealer in the world has HUNDREDS of books laying around for every vehicle. No they all use PDF's now a days get out of the stone age. If you guys would have looked at the files before downloading you would've seen they weren't some scanned copies of a book but legit PDF's. I didnt buy from some japanese guy off ebay. I bought them from a mechanic shop around the corner from my house which goes by the name of Gruelichs. I am not sure the legality of them selling me a copy and me sharing it but I just thought I would share with you guys seeing as how it shows a lot of neat stuff. Didnt think it would turn into a big blow up battle. The Haynes book I did just download off the web but only so I could look at it with ease on my laptop. I actually own 2 Haynes book for the GS500f. One I bought and another was given to me by a buddy who sold his. Copyright laws are only usually a issue in cases where there are millions of downloads or if I had tried selling it to you guys. There is only 13000 registered members here majority of which probably do not even browse this website anymore so again didn't think it was a issue. Sorry to get your panties in a bunch.

I don't think anyone's denying your intentions were good, and I'm sure many appreciate your willingness to share information, but you have to look at it from this site's owner's perspective.  At the same time I hope you don't really believe that copyright laws only take effect when a critical number of infringements have occurred.  :nono:  The bottom line is your shop had no right to give you that copy, regardless of the format, if they were retaining their own copy.

Oh, and panties? ... no, more like briefs.  Well ... except sometimes on Sundays.  ;)

Its true dealerships use electronic forms of manuals but not PDF. Most use either a proprietary database or use something all Mitchell OnDemand or AllData.

I have both and both are great. Both are also well over 100Gb or several DL DVDs

This takin out of context is grounds for the Tard Farm, but...

I think he meant Kitty, as he is making a reference to the Progressive insurance lady for Australia... US has Flo, AU has Kitty (who apparently talks to whales)

Somehow the thread went from talking about downloaded service manuals to piracy laws to Progressive insurance lady

I've been on the wrong side of a few different inflammatory issues and I'm proof that this is not enough to get a custom title. Maybe I've stopped just shy of the line.
