Been on and off the fence about this for some time. Anyone got one or have any pics/links to any?
I personally think stretched bikes look ridiculous. I can't see it being useful for anything except a drag bike. That being said, don't let me rain on your parade.
That's cool. I don't like limo stretched bikes but a few inches is nice. I kept a swingarm from the last bike I parted out just incase I decided to do it but can't really decide
I'm guessing someone around here might be good enough with photoshop/gimp/etc to mock it up for us. I'd be interested to see it, but not interested enough to do it to mine.
There is one in the last few links of the thread for Craigslist finds. I messaged the owner and asked for a pics of the swingarm specifically but got far away shots of the bike :(
Weedahoe, there is somebody here that stretched their swinger.....I remember seeing it a while ago though.
And take into consideration the added leverage on the rear suspension - the extra length to the wheel will make the rear end EXTREMELY soft.
I thought I had seen it also but couldn't find it. With the adjustable R6 shock, I'm sure it could be compensated. IDK. I might do and I might now. I kinda want too but then I don't. As some point I have to quit dropping money into it and what you see in my signature adds up to a drop in the bucket compared to the new paint (candy), the chrome rims and my new lights. I have a bad habit of investing too much. All my rides have been the same and although I say I won't do it again, I always do.

stretched and turbo'd! O0
for the love of god... please do not do this to the poor GS... there is no reason to stretch a GS ever... you will ruin your handling and make your bike look ridiculous...
Thank bud. Ive pretty much decided not to do it so no worries.
Servus,
no problem with streched GS 500! Every bike from me have a longer Swingarm.
Here a pic from the newest one:

Hey Jim. I was actually going to PM you and ask for pics. Why the support bars under the swingarm? Reduce flex?
Here is a video of the stretched and turbo'd GS at the drag strip vs. a GSXR 750. Pretty sure he still loses, but it does look impressive for a GS500. I wish I knew what ET and mph he pulled.

Thanks. I had seen that before. Rebel Rocket beat you to the posting of it though ;)
Too bad the guy on YouTube isn't more active
i do believe AVERAGE has a streatched stock swing arm
I do. I only went 4 over so it wouldn't look too ridiculous but I love the looks I got with a faired 90 YA.....
.....and seamax
but he's yet to post pics....

Servus,
the beams on the swingarm are used to stabilize and I like it better than just a naked arm.
I did not get a PM from you, unfortunately.
@average: The rocker of Seamax is from me and is completely made of steel. I prefer to hold the aluminum swingarm.

Found one on Craigslist. Not really my cup of tea.
That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen
Some people would say buying a 487cid bike is dumb too :cookoo:
Yeah, a 487 cu in bike is dumb.
QuoteYeah, a 487 cu in bike is dumb.
HAHAHA!
I was just thinking of a bike outfitted with some Continental flat 6 out of a cessna.
Yeah, kinda goofed on the cubes there did I? LOL
I used to have a Cad 500 engine though in a 87 442 I had. Now THAT was a fun engine
Anyway, I happen to like a stretched bike obviously, but not over stretched.
So did u decide to stretch it?
Never really decided. I put the idea on the back burner for now.
I ordered a Shark bluetooth audio system for the bike. My Katana rims will be back from chroming in about two more weeks. I order silver, gold and black base coat paint and 3 different candy and pearl flakes to paint with to see which I like best and then have to paint two sets of fairings, the tank, the fork tubes, top triple clamp and inner cowl fairing. Also working on a rear seat cover that once it is finished will get painted also.
So right now, Im maxed on projects and got enough money spread out.

Id say if you did it right, and it didnt look like a pimps caddy on lsd, then by all means. but our beloved gs is not a powerhouse. BUT if you want to see what it would look like, im always looking for a reason to break out the pshop
Yeah but thats like saying only a Busa is privileged for nice mods. I know guys like Busa's and such because they are powerful and fast, but when you're ripping down the street at high speeds, who really gets to get a good look at you? Very few if any at all. What do they think about you ripping down the street? Likely calling you an idiot and waiting for you to crash.
Me? I would rather go slow and look good.
