Title: 2004 GS 500 Part Out Feeler
Post by: Shadow Camaro on January 09, 2013, 02:44:14 PM
Hey guys I just picked up an 04 gs500 with 10k miles on it for dirt cheap. The reason being that all the fairings were busted to hell and it needs a bit of work I run and it lacks a title. But I only wanted it for the engine anyway. So I was thinking about parting it out. Is there any interest for these parts? I'd just like to make my money back and profit a little bit. Let me know if you guys are interested in any of these parts! I'll also have a rebuilt engine to sell soon I hope. Thanks guys!

Do you have the fairings still? I need a left side any condition as long as it has the upper rear mount intact.

Sorry buddy, no useable fairing except maybe the front and rear pieces but that would be a stretch probably. The tank was dent free until the bike fell over in the truck on the way home -.- but it's small and the tank seems good other than some small nicks. But it's yellow in color.

I literally just need the rear mount, mine got broken off its the one nearest the knee on the left side, if it is there and can plastic weld / fiberglass it on I am good.

If crzydood17 isn't interested in the rear, I am.

crzydood, I just took the busted fairings off my gs, I have all of the mounts if you'd like. My front cowl subframe tab is destroyed, so my bike is unfairingable.  Shoot me a PM.

I'm assuming the front handlebar is bent?

I'm looking for an odometer reset knob, with the screw. Also, is the front brake caliper in good condition? i.e. not marked from being laid down)?

Do you have the stock reflector that hangs off of the rear fender?  Broke mine.  Backed into a fence...cracked into a million pieces.  Just need the reflector, not the bracket.

Doesn't look like the reflector you mentioned is present. Sorry. The handlebars are not the stock set. They have a more aggressive angle to make it feel more like a sport bike. Not sure if I'll sell then or use them on my bike and sell the stock set. The gauges are in good condition except for the little knob that resets the the trip on the odometer. There's 10500 miles on the odometer. The front brake caliper is in very good condition, no damage whatsoever.

What's the price on the tank and seat?

I'm open to offers on all items. I just don't have any idea what these parts are worth. The tank does have small dent in it on the lower right hand side and also some chips in the paint in various places. Also theres a small rip in the seat itself. So please take these things in to account when you make an offer.

What does complete triples mean? Also what kind of price should I charge for them? Any advice on the value of any of the parts on this bike would be greatly appreciated.

Triples are the clamps that connect to your fork and in the GS's case, hold the handlebars.

Put the forks with the lower and top clamp all together and sell it as a set. I've seen them bring 200-300 if not bent

How much for the tach, and wiring that comes from it? (Ad I remember, the 04's had the digital tach right?)

I wanna say the tach is digital like you said. I honestly don't know what a fair price is so feel free to offer. However, one guy does have dibs in them for now so I won't sell them unless he gives them up. But he wanted to pay $100. But like I said, idk what a fair asking price is for any of this stuff.
