Doesn't it have to be a 525 chain? It says 520...no expert, but I'd check the compatibility of 520 and 525 chains.
Gs500'ss are a 520 / 110 chain.
No it wont fit...............Standard sprocket has a 25mm diameter spline, the one shown is 30mm.

days ago GS Jack told me about a chain and sprocket dealer but untill now i had no luck!?

Lin, I gave you the information that you need the first time you posted this question several months ago. The part number is JTF565.18 and it is readily available from Amazon for less than US$15 plus postage. I have now done 5oookm with the 18 tooth sprocket on. It has worked perfectly with the standard chain and I am still very happy with the feel of the bike. As it does not have the step on the spline hub needed for the later model bikes you can just use two aluminium sump plug washers with the correct inside diameter. These can easily be obtained from your nearest car repair workshop for just a dollar or two.

Thanks prmas, I was looking for that late last night recalling someone in Australia had used an 18T sprocket but my old eyes gave out before I found it. That JTF565 sprocket is the type without the hub used on 89-93 GS500E models and comes in 12-18T sizes.

There is also a JTF512 sprocket that comes in 14-17T sizes that has a hub and was used by another gstwins member for anyone looking for a 17T front.

I used Sprocket Specialist 15T front sprockets without the hub on my 97 GS that came with a sprocket with a hub for over 40k miles without a problem. No problem with the rear wheel properly aligned but I ran one on my 02 GS that was out of alignment and it became worn and wobly. Wear was in the sprocket bore and the shaft spline was OK and still is many miles later.
