My float height is about 1/4" high on both sides using the U-bend method. Can someone walk me through the process of adjustment and rechecking the height? The clymer manual and many of the posts on here are very vague, and it seems like a very delicate process.
Thanks in advance! :kiss3:
Here's a section in the Haynes manual on float height. It should be set to 14.6mm for 89-00 and 13mm for 01-09 - with not much error from that.

Carbs have changed once over the years, but they are very similar, and process is same as well as the actual height measurement.

Edit: updated with difference for year changes
I think there is a slight height difference from the earlier 89-02 carbs versus 04+ isnt there.
Might be good to know what year the OP has.

You may actually be right on that, though I can't find the info at the moment :icon_confused:

89-00 had 2 circuit carbs and 01-09 are 3 circuit carbs. OP has 01 model.

Okay, so it looks like 89-00 carbs (2 circuit) float height should be set to 14.6mm +/- 1mm. While 01-09 carbs (3 circuit) should be set to 13mm +/- 1mm.
