:dunno: I just bought a brand new 2002 Suzuki gs500, it has 2 miles on it. The listed (msrp) was $4,399. I paid $3,850 (not including tax/license/ prep charges). Out the door price was $4,300, and not apenny more. I was wondering if that is a good price or did i get ripped off. Any honest opinion is appreciated!
I say if you're happy with it, you got a good deal. :thumb:
In the end, you have a brand new bike (that collected some dust on the floor) that you got out the door for less than the original MSRP. I think you did alright. I'm sure there will be people that say you paid too much but there's always somebody that says that
Welcome to the forum!
I'd say if you wanted it brand new then you paid a fair price. If you had wanted one used you could of found a 02 or 01 nd paid a grand less w/ not too many miles. But the dealership (assuming thats where u got it) won't let it go for cheap. Prob why it was still there, they won't take that much of a loss. And most people think umm why am i going to pay that much for a 2 yr old bike thats been sitting when i can get one w/ a few miles nd a year older for close to 1/2 the price. But if yur happy then what does it matter? :dunno:
ENJOY!

There's always the tradeoff between paying for depreciation and the peace of mind that comes with a warranty and the fact that there was no previous owner to have abused the bike in some way. The downside is if you rejet the carbs or install aftermarket fork springs , you might void the warranty.
I think the fact Suzuki brought the GS back in '04 has enhanced ithe value of leftover models somewhat. I don't see the 04's full fairing as an advantage.
Personally, I think you did all right. My only suggestion would be to ask the dealer about the modification issues, and enjoy that new bike smell...
yeah, for what you paid that's a pretty good deal. You get the warranty too, right? That's worth a bit . Enjoy it and realize that you've got nothing to fix before you can ride it.
I bought my 02 in June from someone who bought it in Jan 03 new.
Less than 500 miles, and paid 3,200.
After tax, and title and stuff...not to mention the 900 mile trip for it, it was around 3,800....so you didn't do too bad. Congrats on the new purchase.....I now have 2,000 miles. Woohoo!
I paid an even 4,000 for my 2002 back in june. It was 4,400 and I just wore them down. I say it was good.
I paid MSRP  for my 2002
but I bought in Feb of 2002.
I already have 15k miles on it
I think you got a good deal. Welcome to the board!
i paid 1500 in june for my 96. 7000 miles and a cobra slip-on was on it. i think it was a good deal beacause we sold my last one for 1500 and bought the GS for the same price. :nana:
