Title: WTS: 2008 GS500F - Blown Motor - Central FL $800 firm
Post by: N618ft on January 22, 2013, 10:07:46 AM
Alright, so I bought a 2008 GS500F w/ ~11,000 miles a few days ago.  I've had a couple things happen in the meantime and I won't have the time to fix it for a few months.  If I can't sell it as is, I'll fix it up this summer for myself (when I'll actually have time) but I'd rather have a running bike at the moment and don't have room for 2.  Can't part out, as I don't have time. Here's the deal...

1. Rod was thrown, so there is no practicality in fixing the engine.  The engine was running but knocked badly.
2. One-owner title in hand.
3. Frame is as clean as you'll find them.  Straight, same with forks.
4. No dents anywhere on the gas tank.
5. Fairings missing.
6. Front tire needs replacing.  Rear has tread left.
7. Aftermarket headlights - not sure what kind.
8. All sprockets, chain, etc good.
9. Other parts on bike are tip top unless otherwise noted on here.
10. Mostly disassembled but can put everything back together if needed.

$800

I have a nice guitar and other random stuff I could trade if you wished. I can even rig you up a pc.

What kind of guitar?  I'm willing to do partial or full trade for firearms, good instruments, guitar/bass amps, maybe a PC (I rig up my own, but my mom is in need of one now and no time lol).

I do have a question... my other option is to just keep it and fix it which will take me a couple months to get to.   Not the end of the world.  It's a clean bike.  If my total expenses in this are about $2w/ a nearly new 1000 mile motor and a new tire, was this all worth it?  :cookoo:

schecter 006 deluxe, the one synister gates used. has a nick or two, but otherwise good condition. also have a mustang programmable amp for it, plug it in the pc and play with the pre/op amps and stuff.

I build PC's. I also have a ruger 22/45 thats been polished, slingshotted, and worked a little. fires like butter.

Thanks for the offers - I'm not sure I can swing this for those.  All nice stuff, just no use specifically for those and I had a cash offer from a local scrapper that's worth about the price of the Ruger (which is a great unit by the way!). That PC is overkill for my mom too lol... I was going to give her my iPad which is still way more than anything she'd need.

=( if you change your mind, message me. I won't scrap it or part it, just fix it and make it into my old bike.

That's what I want to do - fix it - but shipping on a motor online is expensive and I'd rather save the couple hundred.  I'd rather stick with a newer/low miles motor- but if you find me something that I end up buying I'll throw a finder's fee!  Or I'll buy a motor off you if you have one lol.
