For anyone who remembers me struggling with my carbs a while back, I'm a bigger dummy than we thought! I kept struggling with vacuum issues trying to get the carbs balanced. Jared so graciously helped out with a donated diaghram cover (thanks man, I'm sending yours tomorrow. )Turns out there was a small split on the bottom of the carb boot that was pulling air. Ain't that a Buddha Loves You. All that struggling for a damn boot. I even have a friggin' spare in the garage. Just put it on and am charging the battery. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
May the GS run again and forever!
hehe don't worry man we all have days like that.
thats like wondering why the bike wont start, thrashing on it for a while and then realizing it is out of gas  , interesting how major problems end up being minor ones? :dunno:
Yup, hopefully when I get home from work today and put the battery in it'll fire right up and I can go for a ride. The last few days have been great riding days so I'm antsy. Thanks for the support!!
It LIVES!!! Got the new boot on and synched the carbs by eye (thanks for that tip guys!) and she fired right up. A little tweaking and she sounds good. Only probelm now is the throttle cable is binding and revs when I turn right, so I need to readjust that, but otherwise she seems good to go. can't wait to ride tomorrow. I took some pics too, I'll load 'em later.
OK here is my hijack attempt...
My 91 seems to run on 1 cyl - GS250 if I let it sit for a few days. The cure is to open up the left side frame cover, disconnect all the electrical connections and re connect them... instant GS500... OK so anyone know why... Does the black box reset itself or somehting when its pulled off the wiring... or is it just the plugs that have gotten screwed up... they look fine BTW.
Cool.
Srinath.
There isn't anything in the black box to reset, it is purely passive.
Sounds like a bad connection to me.
