Title: What about Belstaff gear?
Post by: adidasguy on January 30, 2013, 05:18:57 PM
Friend has full Belstaff gear for sale for $500. I'm not familiar with this brand.
Should I buy it?

My former roommate had a Belstaff leather jacket and gloves, he said it was nice but not worth the $800 price tag he paid. He ended up selling it and got some Joe Rocket gear.

The folks on ADV rider seem to like it. I think the company changed hands in the last couple years. Belstaff motorcycle gear is now sold by Britishmotorcyclegear.com
I hear their Mercury Jacket is very water proof. Dunno about the other stuff.

The gear in the pic looks like an older model jacket and pants but it looks like to buy a comparable jacket and pants from BMG would be about $500 before shipping.

Doesn't seem like the best price on used gear to me. I would offer him $200 - $250 for the set if I was feeling generous. Textile gear doesn't hold value. Even Aerostich suits rarely fetch more than 50% retail on the used market.
