Just as the title says. The right fairing is scratched up bad, but I know how rare they are used and how hard they are to get.
The parts that bother me are the scratched up crankcase cover (with missing sticker protecting the electronics inside) and the handle bar balancers (the parts on the outside past the grips). Local dealers want 35 for the cover and 18 for the sticker on it, and 25 for the handlebar balancers. I'm looking to spend about half on each for used. 25 for the cover and sticker, 25 for two balancer sets.
I have a 2006 GS500F. Those parts should be interchangeable with most years.

I contacted two people selling their bikes for parts but never got a response.
If anybody knows of aftermaket or ebay parts that work, please let me know. I checked ebay for, what I thought, was the go to for the handlebar balancers, but I couldn't confirm one that would fit my bike. Will any kit fit as long as the handlebar inner diameter is the same?
Thank you!
I'll double check the condition but I will send you my bar ends for $10 shipped. It will take a day or two before PayPal has my account restored tho.
Welcome to the Site. If the fairing is just scratched bad, either take it to a paint and body shop and let them do it or you sand it smooth, lay your bondo or filler, sand, primer, paint, clear.
If it's broken, well that's another story. There are some of ebay usually. Fairings here go fast.

Be sure the bar ends have the rubber bushings.
If you have the stock handlebar, most bar end "balancers" will fight with ease.

89-2000 the bar ends just screw in to a nut welded into the end of the bar.
2001+ bars use an expansion rubber bushing. Some other type of expansion thing is required for after market bar ends.
The actual bar end is the same (well, at some point they switched from a lead slug with a steel cover, to solid steel - but they are interchangeable)
Oh, I am talking about aftermarket bar ends that are bought on ebay, not the stock gs500 bar ends. Not sure if there is much of a difference.
You still have to be sure how they mount: screw only or expanding bushing of some type.
Keep your eye out on eBay for the fairing. I see them pop up quite a bit. Of course it's only side at a time. ;)
As far as the crankcase cover, been there, done that. It takes a lot of patience, looking, and luck to find those things. Ask weedahoe, he's been there since the beginning of my search for one side. lmao
I'm on ebay all the time as well as other places but I'm sorry to say "like new" parts have the price tag of "new" parts
Ive had both screw only bar ends and expanding bushing bar end mirrors currently. They both worked fine for me. Freaking fog.... I want it to be sunny!
Thanks for the replies! Puma, I'll send you a pm. I'd rather buy from the forum than eBay knockoffs.
I'll keep an eye out for the cover. If I just bough the sticker it wouldn't look terrible, but it still looks scratched on the bottom.
As for the fairing, all I need is one! Haha. I'll check eBay periodically.
Thanks for the welcome. I just put on 240 miles this weekend through some incredible twisty California roads.
Sending a PM on this forum is a real pain. :( I tried that captcha 8 times before it went though.

That'll go away once you have a few more posts, if I recall correctly. It's there to discourage spammer accounts.

I think it is time related. One member with zero posts sent me a PM - that was a month after he joined. So I think it is time related.
okay so I went out and the screws on my bar ends are both so stripped I cant tell what type of head they originally were. I will be calling some friends to see if any of them have a puller.
Drill off the head so you can remove the bar end. Then get new bolts for your new handlebars.
The bolts can get rusted in there so it may never unscrew. So drill off the screw head to remove the bar end.

Then off to same friend to borrow a drill...
Do you know off hand the screw size?
OEM bolt for the bar ends is 6mm with 1.0 threads.
about 84mm long.
