SOOOOOOOO.......... Looking into the clip on options............ while looking into this everyone says you can drop the front end so the tubes are showing more and attatch the clip ons to the part of the tube above the top plat. With doing this do you loose ground clearance? Does it change the handling at all? That is all thanks for the help guys!

You can do it. I personally think it's a bad idea. Others disagree.
Yes, it will reduce cornering clearance and it will affect handling. If you have a GS500 E, I'd recommend clubmans instead - you'll get aggressive ergos, easier install, lower price.
Work fine for me. I ride safe so Im not knee touching around corners and I have no issues

Look at the photo.
If the top plate were cut off where those clip-ons are, you would have an extra inch to work with. The handlebar top plate is only used to hold the instruments. So just remove the top plate and do something to mount the gauges OR cut off the ends of the top plate and grind off the handle bar cradles for a cleaner look.
^^^ Like this. ;)

Right - do that then cut off the ends around the fork homes so you have an extra inch for clip-ons and don't have to drop the front quite so far. Do it right and you can still mount the gauges and have that extra clearance for clip-ons.
The top plate only holds the handle bars and the gauges. Mount the gauges somehow else and you don't need the top plate except for cosmetic purposes.
Kinda like this:

Weedahoe, what is your tank clearance with those clip-ons?
Plenty of room as they are adjustable. That top plate I posted is one of two I'm working on for my bike. One day I will get it finished.
Because your posting in the track section I assume your using this at the track. If that's true I strongly suggest you don not mount these like seen on weedahoes bike. And there is no reason to modify the top clamp.
Lowering your front end will result in changing your steering geometry and ground clearance. The gs already turns in quick; no need to lower it. It also already has limited ground clearance and if you lower you'll runout that much quicker. Weedahoe may think not putting his knee down is some how safe riding but when you find yourself in a situation where you have to tighten a line and have to have that extra clearance you'll be happy you have it.
Based on weedahoe's posts elsewhere on the board, I don't think he's out there racing GS's. Probably just trying to give some insight on ways to get the clip ons mounted
Was t trying to call him out. I'm trying to point out that thought should be given to intended use. Looking at weedahoes mod list he'd end up going down hard by turn 3 in loudon, nh.
Hope I don't sound like I judging him because im not trying to. Everyone rides there on ride but if the track or performance riding is the goal then it's just plain bad advice. If the goal is style and cosmetic only then i appologize for stepping on toes. The op wasn't clear on his end goal.
No offense taken. I simply dont ride corners at 50mph. Im not saying I have chick strips either. But for me, grinding my pegs isnt needed.
Thanks for understanding. Its hard to know how to deal with someone that has less then 10 post when they act like they know something and have no cred on the site yet.
For the record and to stay on topic this is my current set up. Im running 3 piece woodcraft clips. You can bolt them up without having to slid the forks out which makes instillation a snap. I dont have a fairing so I dont know if they will conflict but there is plenty of clearance for the frame and tank.

Also for the record I have taken advice from weedahoe. Below is the Bandit rear break arm I ordered on his advice and it works for my needs perfectly. Thank you weedahoe.

Bandit arm wasnt my idea. I got it from someone else here on the board but for the $10 mine cost, it was worth the wait rather than trying to bend mine and paint it afterwards.
Wow that tire picture makes it look like you really tear it up on your GS, thats cool as hell and makes me want to take my GS to the track.
Does anyone race the GS with the stock clipons mounted upside down?

He he he....
That sure would be easier than all the things I've seen some people do. I'll have to try that on the parts bike I'm stripping down. I can't ride it of course, but it has 89's so I could flip them just for shets and giggles and see how they fit. I might even post a picture!
If you do end up doing that, please post a pic and impressions... I think im going to try that myself as well. If I do, ill post pics ofcourse
Thank you all for assisting.... still leaves me with no clue what I am going to do yet but I am working on it. Also here is me at the track for s's and g's it was jennings gp about 4 or 5 months ago before a whole bunch of modifications I just got done which include basically everything I have listed under my name with my bike. I think I was running like 1:40 1:43's all weekend long im excited to get it back out there especially with everything that has been done. It is hard to really say what my bike is its a track bike that I ride a lot on the street and take it to the track as much as possible so it does everything for me. But this will be a big help and gives me a starting point.

Oohhhh. I like the look of that black. Similar to what I want to do with my GS.
Also, remember that weed's bike is lowered too, so his front ergos aren't changed so much by the clip-ons above the topplate... but definately less ground clearance, no question there.

If this is for the track, I'd recommend removing the headlight bracket, for an under tripple mount. The aggressive position works well for track speeds, and it's how I had my race bike setup. A big part of maintaining endurance at track speeds on the GS is getting the upper body down and inside the bike before turn in.

Do a search for a Bandit 1200 brake arm on ebay

Thanks I will be uploading some new photos tonight when I do I will re-post
I would definitely go with the club man bars like motarch suggested. That will give you the aggressive position your looking for with virtually no effort.
And do yourself a favor and get some different rear sets. Shifting and using the back brake with the stock sets and clubmans is far from comfortable, mainly the braking.
I have found that going from stock rider pegs to gixxer rear pegs for riders has helped tremendously though
