Any suggestions or how-to posted on repairs? I did a search and found some stuff but nothing that applies directly to a tab.
This is the upper tab on the right side plastic a 93 GS500e, a rubber grommet goes there and the mounting bolt goes through it.

If you can plastic weld then go for it. OR if you have a soldering iron and a spare bit of rubbish plastic you can plastic solder the piece in.
2 part Arildite (epoxy glue) also works well and is easy to use and hard to screw up if you lack talent.
Plastex works great.
I built up this broken tab with it. Great for cracks and everything.

Yea two part epoxy could work, just get the better strength one.
If you go with using a plastic welder, use a piece of mesh screen on it. You melt that into your repair and itll give you a wider strength area around the original break. Should be in almost any plastic welder kit.
Be sure not to over-tighten the bolt after your repair, dont wanna break all your work.
If you can add a little thickness without a problem, a washer and epoxy will do very well.

The grommet has a metal spacer in it. That prevents the tab from getting smashed and broken. Are you missing the metal spacer?

Yes the spacer is missing on that side and the rubber grommet is all mashed from being over tightened, any idea what I can use to replace it with?
I have a good one from the other side to use as a reference though.
Anyone know if Plastex or Plastifix is available in any stores or just on the web?

Post in the want to buy. Some of us have boxes full of those things with no idea what to do with them.
Or cut a small piece of bras, copper, steel, plastic or whatever pipe/tubing to match the other side.
Your tab will be OK for now if you have the spacer in the grommet. Spacer keeps from going too tight. Grommet lets the plastic move around a little as the bike flexes.

Thanks AG, will do that. I am doing a color change on the plastics so I might as well do the repair on the tab while I am at it. Going to order some Plastex from online. I will post the fix when its done..
If you're going to paint it, I have plenty of tails that are scratched but otherwise good. You can sand those and paint, saving the work of repairing the one you have. Just a thought - it might end up cheaper.
