Title: Hooking up LED taillight HELP
Post by: ccarey6 on February 23, 2013, 08:59:41 PM
Alright guys i need some help. I have had multiple bikes in the past but they have all been early 80,s or older bikes. i always hook up LED tail lights and never have a problem. i  now have a 93 gs500 and this being a newer bike i thought it would be a cinch. WRONG. i cut the wiring harness to connect the tail light to it. my new tail light color wires are RED, YELLOW, BLACK. so i hooked the wiring harness up Brown to Red, Black to Black, and Yellow to White and black( i also switched the brown to white & black with no luck.) and nothing happens when i plug it in to the harness on the bike. now if i touch the Yellow to the Black it turns on to full brightness. but does nothing if you hit the brakes. do i need something special to hook this up some help would be great.  >:(

White/black on the GS is ground.
Brown ins the running light
Other one is the brake light.

I assume black on LED is ground. RED is either brake or running. Yellow would be the other one.

not going to believe what the problem was. the company i bought i from has the actual light wired wrong. Yellow=ground, black=positive, and red= accessory. unbelievable  but after messing with it i have it figured out. i will be adding pictures when im done but i will put it in the builds thread. since i will be cutting down the frame, and modifying rear plastics. thank adidas for helping out.
