Title: Need a seat cowl?
Post by: pliskin on February 23, 2013, 10:39:42 PM
This is the seat cowl off my new 99 Honda VFR. Looks like it will fit right on the GS if I cut 2 notches for the tabs. Or cut the tabs off and find another way to attach it. It fits flush with grab bar. From what I understand they can be had pretty cheap.

I have one that was given to me that looks exactly like that but I never knew where it originated from. Maybe this is it

hot diggity that's a pretty nice fit; i too am interested to see how this turns out; i ride an E so i wonder how it would settle on the tackier seat / more squarish rear bits? maybe i should hit up the ol' bent bike

Well it is a pretty good fit. The shape of the back fits right into the curve of the grab handle, the rear rear plastic and seat almost seamlessly. I'm not going to cut the tabs off  or cut slots in the GS plastic to test it. I think if you cut 4 small slits in the rear plastic the tabs on the seat cowl would fit right in and look like a factory fit. Unless you find another way to attach it you would probably need to take off the GS plastic and secure the tabs from underneath so it does not come off.

I can do some more mock up pics if you need them.
