plans are to get my hands on a pipe ( expansion chamber type) purchased a 7tooth pinion gear.  ( stock ratio is 6 / 98 going to 7/98 ( 4.5hp @18k shes jumpy as all hell. hope the pipe will allow some moderation on that.  she WILL go a tad faster. but will be less jumpy off the line

also will eventually need to get my hands on a magnesium 2 piece wheel for this battlepig.  the rear one, is broken in one place. ( on tank side. ) so structurally its ok, if i dont go apeshit crazy with it. since it is magnesium welding is NOT an option.

Glad you like them,
Yes they are pretty good movements for someone that can appreciate them. They probably need adjusting as from memory I think they ran a little fast?
They should not give you any trouble though as they are good clean watches. :thumb:

got teh gear installed. i MAY have made a mistake though. i used Loctite so it wont come apart without a fight lol. you see two pinion gears here . the one on the right, ( in good/perfect shape is the 7 tooth pinion gear. the one on left sitting insite the drum frame/engine mount is the EXTREMELY worn 6 tooth gear

Post by: yamahonkawazuki on March 04, 2013, 10:38:08 PM
:icon_eek:  lol. but they work. louder? yes. a silencer would help there. although the dominator i want isnt so "obvious" or in your face.
( the dominator v2)
the chrome dominator pipe is159. the black one is 139. methinks ill save for the black one. besides frame is black, fenders are black etc. finish on pipe is a flat black, BUT with hi temp gloss paint ;)
can be made to shine
(http://worthopedia.s3.amazonaws.com/images/thumbnails2/1/1110/20/1_3075e964859d8a92ce5bdf74b14515cf.jpg) definately on the wishlist at this point yeah ill wait for the ddm. the xcan however is 40 cheaper. and a bit quieter. hmmmmmm
(http://www.gomeyer.com/rc-cars-scooters/images/TGN_X-Canv2.jpg)
plus a needed rear wheel
(http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Go-Ped-Parts-Wheel-For-Bigfoot-Trail-Ripper-GSR46-GSR25-GSR26-GSR40-Go-Ped-Rim-/00/s/NTMxWDUyNw==/$T2eC16J,!w0E9szN(WC-BQq1b!)5Sg~~60_3.JPG) works out to the price of the black dominator pipe

nooooh thats not mine lol. that was of a pipe i had my eye on. will be beginning assembly tomorrow after work. holding off on the tensioner, can do without it. using careful manual tensioning. will install a tensioner asap.

update:
bloodpressure givin me hell along with neuropathy. so while assembling the scooter, i passed out twice . anyhoo moving on. first picture shows the clutch. yellow springs are stock mid/upper stall
(http://www.gs500.net/gallery/data/500/completion1.jpg)
want to order some clutch saver springs ( which will open lower in the rev range. ( this engine revs to 18k@4.2hp) as well as a scattershield. which mounts in behind the clutch. the idea behind that is if the clutch frags on me @ 17k or so, it wont take out the engine case or lock up the driveline. anyhoo moving on.third pic is the engine with engine mount and clutch bell installed.
third and final pic of driveline is engine/mount installed with chain set to tension.
(http://www.gs500.net/gallery/data/500/completion3.jpg)finally, i found this @ shop today. way my body is acting for last few mos working in a seated position is not safe anymore. this stand is made by trojan ( no NOT the condiment ppl) its a mitre saw stand. which elevates saw to 3.5' maybe 4'. my thoughts are to allow me to mount my jig to the platform on stand,  then secure scooter to stand. allowing me to work either standing or while in/on a bench. also a hell of a good deal. things are bringing north of 600. boss had it at 125. could get it for 100 . tbh i dont think he knows what hes got.
last bits ive got to get are
4 m5x22 screws, a 1/3x2" compression spring. right now im using hair bands for throttle return.  would like to get my hands on some 25H chain. eventually a rear wheel and an exhaust. if i take it easy and not go apeshit crazy with it, the damaged wheel will be fine. anyhoo more updates in next few days. . Thank yall for your time. projects are fun Eh?

tried installing the throttle cable using a MTB brake lever/adjuster. too tight. its tight as hell right now. will check theadjuster under the engine tomorrow. MAY take it for a ride on easy mode. since i dont have a return spring atm. im using braided rubber bands.  so she idles high. will have to fix that sopon though.
Her ass end after the test firing/bench run
(http://www.gs500.net/gallery/data/500/medium/backsideafterfiring1.jpg)
now back to ebay. and virtual shopping of upgrades/repair parts. checking GPN also. will update. also once finished will post a walkaround vid and a ¡ride vid too!

got carb set up. dear GOD, the PO didnt know his arse from a hole in the ground regarding screw settings. stock ( before fine tuning is 1 3/8 turns out from closed for high speed, and 1 1/4 turns out for low. when i closed the scerws to make initial adjustments, i counted 4.3 turns in to close for high and 4.5 for low. aka i could start it, and after a few pulls MIGHT hit 11k, now after preliminary screw setup, i hit 18k give or take a few for the first time. will ride tomorrow, if weather cooperates. the torque of this engine. ( 4.2hp @18k on a 40lb frame) almost pulled the battlepig off of the improvised stand. camera is a bit dodgy, will get vid as soon as i am able.  :icon_twisted:, now definately getting my hands on an exhaust. but want to repair wheel first. its got one screw surface gone. but 3 are solid so as long as i dont do any hardcore offroading ill be okay. wish i could weld, but magnesium doesnt like that for some reason lol :technical:

Ride was good today. chain is dodgy. 3yo spares. well no over a year at least. cobbled together for parts chain. wd40'd the hell out of it, wlil oil it @ shop tomorrow when i go in. need to get my hands on a decent camera. i have a small off brand 720p which is SENSITIVE to vibes. so frame mt wont happen. thinking body mount using its straps. but will end up getting my hands on a camera though. the 98 tooth gear is a bit misaligned. can hear the telltale noise. will take care of that as soon as i can.

i believe shes in good running shape. rideable as is now. fine tuning carb will help. now going to search ebay and gpn for a cheap pipe and a wheel. ( magnesium wheel preferred over the plastic ones. prices are similar ). should have some video up after work tomorrow. 1st one being another encounter with dogzilla, second being trip home.

yeah i know lol. i want to get my hands on a better camera to mount under the deck. would be maybe 4" above tarmac. this one i wear strapped to my right leg. above kneecap. left leg is a tad smaller. damned diabetic issues lol  :technical: i want to jump it lol. but back wheel has a slightly broken spot. next on list is a wheel and an exhaust. after that a decent camera i can use alongside this one

took it for a ride maybe 2 miles each way. on way back i rode thru grass, ( it is after all an offroad rated scooter. )
saw the hole @ last moment, id say goin 30ish. swerved and jumped lol. damn that thing is smooth. then rode back to house

but after the jump lol today. going to get teh wheel first. then the exhaust. fun having a vehicle with 2 SSSA's on it. makes wheel/tire changes fairly quick

did a field adjustment of the carb enroute to work today ( pre storm) got it up to id say nearly 17k, and it felt nearly 40. rode partially home ( in aftermath of storm aka standing water. ) not recomended = wet ass. i must get my hands on a wheel and a street tire. the off road knobbies are worthless for corners @ speed. ill probably ( 0once funds saved) order 1 street tire for front. put the 95% tread knobbie on the rear, so i can turn, @ same time, ill do this once i get the new or used wheel and exhaust. the battlepig is happy. ( damn me for choosing the name lol. its stuck with me now.   :technical:

ive got magnesium wheels now. there are cheaper plastic units avaliable, but i dont trust them as much with the capabilities of this scooter. will prolly hold off a while on the exhaust. i keep my eyes on gpn classifieds hoping cheap parts show up. they do but are gone time im able to do anything lmao

or my gsr25 with pipe a gzn25n14 which got kick ass mileage, im averaging 28-32 ish mpg. course im running it harder too. averaging by sound, 15k whereas my gsr25 redlined at 12k.  want to get my hands ona  gps, as well as an electronic tach. ( along with a gs500 throttle/switch assy. ) am having fun though lol. But want to get the wheel replaced before i take it to the next level  :icon_twisted:

im satisfied with the engine. and the chosen gear ratio +1 on the pinion gear from 6/98 to 7/98 anyways if anyone sees or knows of an exhaust that would fit a gp420 ( what i have) or its slightlylarger sibling a gp460 ( the engines)  lmk. ( also a gsr40 pipe would work. ) doing my best to keep the build on the cheap. will update  :thumb: barring any  :police:

no theyre new balance.  ( gift from boss) originally picked up a set of black adidas' but i ordered wrong size. ordered a 10 not the10.5 i needed. so returned those and got the ones in video. BAD choice. when i oil the chain, it slings that shaZam! onto the back side of my right shoe. lol. ill get my hands on some proper chain wax, or gun oil. or some other lubricant for teh drive chain. as of now. theres only 2 gopeds in this town. my red gtr, ( which if memory serves, is only one in east tn err in maybe 50 mile radius.  and across town, a goped spindle driven bigfoot. in knoxville theres a red sport ( my old one) and a gsr40  and somewhere maybe not far is my stolen gsr25. in parts now. i keep this thing locked down solid now.

Got her tuned in perfectly ( the carburetor) i hit redline. i must replace the steering head bearings. cause i got a major case of speed wobbles. now my shopping list includes a ddm dominator exhaust, a wheel ( magnesium) and  head bearings.  ( and 1 street tire) once i get the tire mounted, am going to get squidly and do a burnout. i felt my feet for the first time in a long while today. ( diabetic complications lol) the knobbies vibrated them . felt either my feet or my shins. but vibes at that speed would ruin any video i shot.

bearings are near their end. stable to 35ish minor wobbles. got major ones  near 40 id say. left-right wobbles.
i bought alot of my parts from this guy. ships from san diego to east tn in 2 days. for last year if i had to grab anything ped related id check and see if he had anything.

or does anyone have a used gs kickstand laying about? even with the broken wheel will try a slight speedrun/hill climb tomorrow. ill lift @ 40 or sooner if speedwobbles get too severe. she wont come apart. but if pushed too far, the wobbles can cause a wreck. i refuse to have one of those

4-4.5 hp in a 46lb frame with present gearing = fun lol. until today. pulled out, someone turns in, using our parking lot like a freeway offramp. i see this out of corner of my eye. and unpin the throttle, and slam brake. i 12 o'clocked it.  i went over bars taking it with me. it lands on its side, breaking its starter. finished errand leaving it running. i return to shop and kill it. starter has to be replaced. but @ $40+ for the starter unit and the engagement disc thats put off for a while. a couple weeks or so. my hand hit ground hard.
as did my knees. heh hand is cold on outside half. i can pick up weight somewhat so its not broken. prolly sprained.; ring finger hyper extended, driver stopped liiked at me like damn that had to hurt. and drove away. not angry with them at all. anyhoo ill park it, and order the starter when i can.

parts have been ordered. i think shipped/processed today. so what a week time give or take . depends on how fast ddm ships. ( www.davesmotors.com ). ive used them pretty much exclusively if i bought new parts. ordered a piston stopper, so i dont break anymore fins off flywheel, a spring assist pull-start, and the engagement disc. both of which were damaged in wreck. $42 i really didnt want to spend. but means the difference of riding or not riding. ( also found a used magnesium wheel, and choke knob so i dont have to use my leatherman.

I hear ya on price of pipes! Good quality expansion chambers aren't easy or cheap to come by. I paid $200 for the weakends race exhaust on my garelli, only paid $120 for the complete moped haha Speed ain't cheap!

Got the battlepig running again. the used wheel, choke lever arrived from costa mesa, the starter and piston stopper arrived from draper UT. that piston stopper sped the whole assy process up considerably. did a slight burnout test lol. Once i round up the next head of cabbage, ordering a road tire for the front, and an exhaust. and a tube. ( just in case) cause i will do a burnout on the old tire.
( the piston stopper)
todays thrash session began with this
(http://www.gs500.net/gallery/data/500/medium/SUNP00172.JPG)
then some red loctite
Then i attached washer, and flywheel nut, then starter engagement part shown here
(http://www.gs500.net/gallery/data/500/medium/SUNP0018.JPG)
followed by the starter itself
(http://www.gs500.net/gallery/data/500/medium/SUNP0019.JPG)
the white thingie/disc on top of the carburetor is $5 i didnt need to spend. ( starter engagement disc) new starter came with one. and its price its not worth the hassle and expense of sending back. 3 things on list now. 1 a pipe, 2 a tire, and 3 some 25h chain

cant wait til i get my hands on an expansion chamber. if yall can find one ( even a chinese one) i can modify it. IF it can run on  a 42cc engine. stock its 4.2hp @ 18k. its ratio has been changed from 6/98 to 7/98 so i get some higher speed, but less takeoff. although theres pelnty of takeoff, i want to be able to emphasize its takeoff and keep its speed gains. theres 3 gauges of clutch springs available to the gp420 the "clutch saver springs" which allow opening @ lower speeds to save clutch wear aka harsh opening, the yellow springs which i have open @ 6500 rpm, and the red race springs which i recall open @ nearly 9500 aka very harsh but damned strong

Get all sorts of lookers, ( but ive got the walmart mentality aka chinese scooters) 3 gopeds in this town, ive owned 2 of them i bsed someone the other day, told them 575 they could have it. Need some eyes please. what im looking for is an expansion chamber to fit a 40-50cc engine. ( mine is 42cc) also looking for 3x4" tires or 3.5x4" http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0018U0AAG/ref=asc_df_B0018U0AAG2425988?tag=thefind0275973-20&creative=395261&creativeASIN=B0018U0AAG&linkCode=asn although 25 for tire and tube is pretty good. so i dont think i can find that any cheaper. moving on, final wanna find cheap is 25H chain. preferrably in a 10' length. lemme know what yall find out there. soon as i get the new tires on hand, am doing a burnout on the old back tire. and keeping the front for either a drive or a spare. or just may put the front knobbie on the rear, and use a street tire on front. for better steering.

Heres the plan of attack. the red route is my latest trip. ( and prolly normal one) the blue one is the next one ill tape. twice. first one is using hte old tires ive got on the pig now. then again as soon as i can afford to replace them. going to time em both. a significant part of this route will be on a state highway. ( 25w aka clinch ave) there is a bar there, i COULD stop in for refreshments. but i refuse to drink and ride.

Ehh it looks huge but smaller than it seems. 6 or 7 miles tops. a 1.5 litre tank. @ 30mpg a tad lower if im @ 18k but still enough fuel to make trip twice

Considering an idea here. since this scooter has TWO SSSA's i could ( if i can round funds up, put another drive gear on front wheel. say a 76 tooth.( plus purchase the required spacers,) a 76 tooth main sprocket is speed only really. plus i went +1 on the pinion for more speed. Soooooo, id have a spare drive gear if i damaged the other one, plus i could change drive ratios in about 35 minutes. ( swap front tire to rear.)

DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :icon_twisted:
Very tempting. that and a pipe, thicken up the oil mixture slightly and id be good to go. i can grab that for less than 50, a pipe for a bit more. maybe a hardened pston to handle the NOS stresses ( bearings too. so im figuring 250ish should have me a healthy assed engine. 45+mph

Hmm after riding my gopeds for 3+ years in town here, seems its slightly illegal. but maybe not. the goped does not fall under the accepted definitions of a moped, or motorised bicycle. with teh turf tires it COULD be classified as off road only, so i have to put street tires on it, so i can say these tires are worthless offroad. never had been hassled by cops until tonight. EVER. shaZam! even would sit and talk with them about it, some even giving it a test ride. going to keep on riding the battlepig. my legs wont allow pedalling anymore. of any distances. the goped really doesnt even fall under the definition of a scooter. definately not a moped, motorcycle or anythign of the nature. this will be my saving grace @ next stop. ( mainly used for work. to and from. also running errands etc. )

chain too tight = worn out sprocket. only got 20 miles out of it it seems. maybe more idk. but will have to replace as soon as budget allows
going to grab one of these

That sprocket is crap.

DO NOT BUY ALUMINUM SPROCKETS!

Hard steel ONLY!

.....and that aluminum thing looks NOT billet but stamped out of aluminum sheet with a little machining and pretty crude at that.

aye. my ddm black magic sprocket also aluminum has the same pattern cut into it i THINK a company called zero error made steel sprockets at some point. eats chains ( the ratio is 2 chains per 1 sprocket. i KNOW it was my fault. i ran the tension too tight. its got some life left in it. but im not going to run it long distances. until replaced. except perhaps next tuesday into downtown clinton to drop off the bulova at bills to get overhauled. will be fine to handle that

seems nobody makes a goped specific gear in steel. hardened steel IIRC is brittle.  the small pinion gear on my scooter is hardened steel. and brittle but not subject to impact its shielded.  the drive gear is exposed though. i can convert my MTB tensioner with a gear from a chinese scooter which will run 25H chain, something like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/25-Tooth-Sprocket-Gear-Gas-Scooter-Pocket-Bike-Mini-Chopper-Skateboard-Go-Kart-/390385355666?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ae4c7cb92 this is thinner than my pinion and final drive. as it fits the thinner 25 chain.  will fit fine inside the 25H so im looking at 18 for this, another aluminum drive gear @ 21 shipped
chain @ 16.  ( 10ft of 25H) and 2 tires.  ill run the ped as is until she breaks then will order hte parts with whatever cash on hand ive got or can scrape together.

out of exile to update thread. replaced the 98 tooth  drive sprocket with an 84 tooth so ratio is 7/84 = LOADS more speed. had eye on a trail tech vapor tach/speedo. but didnt have the 50 bones. so settled for a 15 dollar bicycle computer. guessing i hit 40-45ish today ( also took  turf tires off, and replaced with road/speed tires. . anyhoo back to exile. will update as soon as i can.

57cc air cooled marine engine. 2 cyl, twin carb etc.
but 700 lol. anyhoo back to reality.
going to start stockpiling these parts and build at least a 46cc.
( if not a skopod60 ) the 60 is more than the marine so thats a definate lol
these are the parts.
well the stock 46cc engine is 265 ( plus shipping, unless i pull a coupon)
http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/it.A/id.4506/.f
if i build it from ground up, may be more.
case is
hell would be cheaper to get the complete engine. case is 85ish, then the  cylinder piston rod etc etc etc. plus hte 46 comes with clutch too so id have a spare. so ill set back enough for engine plus the exhaust.  and come out ahead.

That is interesting. The pulse for your tachometer metre comes from spark plug capacitance or leakage. That is very simple idea. I would like to try that idea on single cylinder engine on generator my Dad has in our weekend house. The power generator many times seems to be very fast on revs and very loud.

yup it is wrapped 5x around lead. anything less or more makes it erratic.

Am liking the snoopy goggles by themselves. found a used goped sport 1996 may go after that so im not w/o a scoot while I put this one down for service. thought about building this one up to a 460. but fwiw, its cheaper to buy the engine versus building it. did the math on that one lol. that and the pipe. and im golden. and done. BUT I need to get my hands ona tensioner. this cheap Chinese chain is weird, sprocket is somewhat centred. maybe off by a cooterhair. but close enough. but I see tight spot thenb loose one etc and repeat. got to get a tube patch for my tube. after the nail a couple weeks back. ( before the tour) had 2 spares one already patched. but I ran 2mos on it so not worried. going to patch the puinctured one and have it on hand. the tensioner I bought isn't springloaded. so really isn't any good to me.

Engine drive sprocket/shaft not bent by a cooterhair? ... Smaller diameter would make it hard to spot?

it actually idles fairly smoothly. BUT that could be the issue. if so, its not worth a teardown and rebuild. cause crank is almost 90,  then theres the rod, piston rings, gasketry and plug. plus bearing and rear seal. which is looking as weird as NSA's policy on Verizon phones. But its still sealed so im not tearing it down. ill ride it til it pops.

I will try that spark plug winding trick for a tacho. If you get puncture on your goped why not try foam fill tyre. We do that a lot with scooter and goped in malaysia. Good comfort and no puncture issues. Quite cheap too. Good idea?

good idea yes. just not applicable for the gtr40 :"( I just plan on carrying a spare tube which is quite small, a ratchet, 14mm deepwell socket, and 14mm combi wrench.  all the tools I need to tear it down to repair it. maybe 5lbs of gear.

Opinions needed. the pig is fire engine red. its OEM paint circa 2006, i want to paint it same colour as friends 2006 maserati gransport. its almost a charcoal grey
(http://www.diseno-art.com/images_6/Maserati_GranSport_rear.jpg)
I drove this car ( pic is representation to car. which is IDENTICAL to it )  to Lamborghini carolinas for an update to its driev by wire system. brought the 360 back ( rental/loaner) anyhoo i fell in love with the car. although i cannot afford it right now lol, the colour, i want on the ped. it appears almost black.
This will be my theme build. my first one. the wheels are magnesium, as are the maseratis. the pipe i want is a ddm unit. a tad obscene looking ( adidas quote lol) thats on the list. a 460 engine. revs to almost 16k ( GP460) my GP420 revs to 18k got warned for doing 52 ( radar) in a school zone.  but in july no one is around. anyhoo, enough rambling lol. Once i get my hands on a cheap scoot, ill tear the pig down the battlepig will become the Über battlepig. the kenda 671's on it can handle the speed and are nearly new. going to regear it with fresh sprockets. going to go with either 6/76 or 6/64 also need led lights. cause cops are giving me hell. i want to mount a rear camera on it, for this reason. in addition to the front.  anyhoo enouhg ramblings lol. opinions on the colour? i want to alter it a bit so its a tad more sparkly. perhaps some pearl in it.
Also need to find a small maserati trident. the striped deck will remain.

Color scheme sounds like it'll look killer for sure. 18k @ 52mph on a goped is mind boggling. I will build a shredped to rev that high one day!!

What kind of pipe is that?? Never seen anything like that, looks nutter

pipe is sold by DDM. www.davesmotors.com under gopeds for around a hundred. the obscene pipe is 130ish if memory serves.  heres the link to the almost stock looking one:
well shiat. DDM is almost out err is out of the ddm almost stock one. so lets start with obscenities Eh?
a wheelie pipe but its 159 and change
http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1745/.f
will find the others and get opinions. but a wheelie pipe would be cool with speed gearing. would cancel out the wheelie potential of the pig and just make her evil. aka EVILPIG

Going to save a hundred and get the xcan. cause the nearly open exhaust, ( has inner baffle, outer one went flying) its too loud. when my pharmacist can hear me from inside her business im 500ft away, running at 16k. its too loud. we were talking for about an hour one eve, this week. she mentioned this. My carb is set up for race or competition. cheaper for me to save for a pipe, versus setting up a lower tier carb.

You can buy used reconditioned leaf blowers for $70-$130. I just googled "leaf blower"and they show up.

Maybe we should put a limiter on your battle pig? I bet shooting for 55mph is stressing them out a little. But I'd love to see what a speeding ticket would look like for a go-ped!

There are new engines for $150
http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/it.A/id.4419/.f

......maybe be a little conservative for now to have reliable transportation?

Title: Re: Yama Goped Project

id have to change the engine mount for those to work. a 54mm mount would be needed. and a bell plus pinion. im kinda leaning to building mine up to a 460. new bearings should take up the crank play, new crank seals,  and a 460 conversion. should put it in the 150ish range.
Title: Re: Yama Goped Project
Post by: yamahonkawazuki on September 18, 2013, 10:17:23 AM
my plans if budget allows this at $75:
http://www.davesmotors.com/ca581 460 big bore kit
piston pin for the 460 at $3 for some odd reason not included in kit lol
http://www.davesmotors.com/ca586
small oil seal at 2.50
http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1269/.f
large oil seal at $3.00
http://www.davesmotors.com/dd005
crankcase bearing set at $13
http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1323/.f
So $96.50 plus 6 for a sheet of gasket material so i can make one to fit hte gp420/gp460 engineheck also a piston pin bearing lol.
now the to do list is complete ( piston pin bearing.)
http://www.davesmotors.com/ca586_3 @$4.50 so roughly 107 for an overhaul ( plus shipping costs. might be able to find  some discount codes like last time lol.

Get this, im going to start saving for parts. hopefully prices hold for a month or two. cause I found a NEW case set for 39. which INCLUDES 2 oil seals, and 2 bearings. ( which is roughly half the case cost. ) so id swap out my crank and rod to new assy. using the big bore kit. id have for all intensive purposes a new engine.
http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1325/.f 2 hours roughly shed be finished. 2 more hours shed be ready to fire.

thinking ill grab the case set first. since budget prohibits getting all at once. build bottom up, then next major purchase will be th ebig bore kit, since the gp420 parts no longer exist,  then th episton pin, finally a stock pipe for time being. cause DDMs prices will rise for sure. i cannot beat new cases WITH seals and bearings for 39 or 30 cant remember which.

with a transmission and a y frame conversion yes. but those engines cost almost 7x the trail ripper cost. a gtr40 chassis with wheels i could sell all day long for 400, a running unit for900+ set up as an interceptor as it is now,  close to a thou. and its a 2006 model. i keep the gp420 lower, i can rev to 16k. BUT the lower is defined as mainly the crank and rod, plus ignition. so a new case with my old lower will suffice. 600 had a 57cc a/c twin on ddm. but really my only goal is to get a written speed warning. my time frame is 2pm. BEFORE kids get out of school cause county sets radar at the spot i hit 49  ( in a 25) in TN its not a motorvehicle, so i cant get a revocation or a DOSL. i got growled at by my neighbor and former coworker. lol. he radared me  at 51 in a 25 going downhill. after i get a written warning, im ceasing the speed attempts. the kenda 671's are doing great. ill just build my replacement engine i think. unless i find a 50cc 4 stroke honda

Go simple for reliable transportation. baby it and don't try for 55mph on a goped. Ride slow and easy and it will last a long time.
You don't have to set records on a goped. Maybe you over stressed them and they didn't like it.

What happened to MotoHuffy motor?
Title: Re: Yama Goped Project
Post by: yamahonkawazuki on September 23, 2013, 12:30:25 AM
Considered motohuffys plant. but id have tofab an engine mount, a different wheel OR pinion gear, because of the pinion gear is different versus the drive gear. the needed drive gear would be almost 4x thicker than the drive gear on it, so id have to find a shiner wheel, and tire, gear mount etc etc . the Chinese 49cc engine I found I remove the transmission, and it will bolt right up to my clutch housing. if I have to replace anything, it would be the clutch. doesn't even look like id have to even do that. the Chinese engines, are quite reliable. I have owned them before. that's the route I believe ill save for. theyre common and fairly inexpensive.
Title: Re: Yama Goped Project
Post by: yamahonkawazuki on September 23, 2013, 08:22:29 AM
OR flip wheel over using rear brake disc, and put drive gear there. plus usea fabbed tube steel rear engine mount. and exhaust. id spend more, in fab versus purchasing china engine. the 159 china engine, i remove transmission, sell it for 20, and flip engineand bolt into PMW engine mount. So way im looking at it is selling transmission, id have 139 tied into new engine. minimal fab. not having to worry about clutch or setup. worst case scenario, is i remove the china fuel tank, and use the PMW fuel tank.  on opposite side. or if able to use both fuel tanks, i can end up with a dual fuel tank arrangement.

heres the photochop mockup of the pig with a Chinese heart. ( dependable engines. stock close to same power levels but lower rpms. have owned these engines before.  case reed induction engine just a hair above scale exhaust will fit but will be tight. but doable. cag conversions have been done on gopeds before. sacreligious as all getup in the goped community. but I don't care. id rather do this than be still for much longer lol
and 75 shipped cant beat it lol.

heck I think ill tear open the pigs engine, and see whats up. wd40 what im going to keep etc. eventually will rebuild this. but am going to take my time. in meantime going to grab one of those Chinese 50's ( spare engines are nice to have. lol)

this was the fastest recorded run I had made. that paseo I passed, I saw between 35 and 40, ill split it and call it 37.  after I blew the secondary chamber in the exhaust, she went faster. but nearly impossible to keep in tune. ther is no margin for error on this walbro. hoping things work out and im able to order the engine by mid to late October.
this was run number 8 that I recorded.
the Chinese engine, a few ccs larger than my 420, but maybe a half hp less, since ill be running at 11k versus 16+k. may sell my trailtech vapor and or the gerber river knife to partially fund the engine. wont be able to find another vapor at the price I gave for this one. but heck, who needs a speedo lol.

(http://www.gs500.net/gallery/data/507/bsflag.gif) (http://www.gs500.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/471/title/bsflag/cat/507)
I saw a coupon for $99  portable generator from Harbor Freight. BUY IT!

Get some old electric train or trolly car controls.
You mount the generator somewhere on the bike and hook up the controls.
Next you install an electric motor to drive the goped.

(http://www.gs500.net/gallery/data/507/jumping0047.gif) (http://www.gs500.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/472/title/jumping0047/cat/507)WOW! An electric goped!

Be sure to wear a conductor's hat when riding. Use a trolly bell for your horn.

Now I can really see you doing that!

(And the best part is no more chain or clutch to break!)

Honestly if it werent overkill, id grab something like that for its engine. usually similar in size to the one im tempted to get. still cant beat 75. tbh i had thought about converting it to an esr750 powered goped. ive got nearly8" of ground clearancebut oye after checking th epricing and pieces involved, nvm lol. ill wait on the 75 cag

found clutch shot of the vertical Chinese engine
(http://www.use.com/images/s_3/49cc_Red_Engine_2_14f02e15aeedcba58b9b_2.jpg) the horizontal Chinese engine will work too. more I measured it.  measured the spacing it will clear the deck with minimal modifications

going to run the cag engine. ( the horizontal one) its half the price, and reliable. nearly impossible to blow up lol. plus easier to tune via the case reed induction. getting stoked. should ( barring problems) have engine on hand and installed within a month.

shopping exhausts to get list together. the OEM exhaust for the cag engine is 26" long. but inexpensive. ive access to a welder. ebay is funny  they offer a gy650-150cc exhaust a universal fit lol. kinda have to be a tad more precise than that. will probably get the stock can versus the header/exhaust. its roughly 4"x3"x2" roughly. and quiet. as addy put it, stock works. stock = dependable. or as was put before GPN crashed yet again lol, there was an article written 5+ years ago. stock outlasts all. mildly modified outlasts slightly more modded. and so on so forth. heavily modded = short life. I think ill stick with the 84 tooth drive ive got now. if I upgrade, will be to a higher speed gear. main reason is, like our gs, you go that route, you go faster, but revs are down. if I go back to a 6/98 shell move. but shell scream too. now im at 7/84, might consider 7/76 or 7/80 and choke the fuel back a bit via the reeds

I work in a pawnshop/gun store. I sell, guns, jewelry, tools and oddball things of all sorts. I pulled 16 toolboxes full of various things. ive seen it all. even adult toys. ( which are disposed of using 3 rubber gloves and double bagged)  anyhoo, said ive seen it all. I found this in a box I pulled to sell today. I asked, and they allowed me to keep it. its 6" long and titanium. very light. and very hard. ive also got a quarter ton of titanium slugs, which were supposed to go to TRW. but if they hit the floor of the facility, theyre disposed of. I kept them to build chess pieces. anyhoo back on topic. if I could find another one of these, ive got a bitchin set of handlebar grips. but I wont. cause these are VERY expensive. if purchased via dealers or providers. Sooooooooo, going to make a 90 degree mount, and set this thing up on either my front SSSA or the rear SSSA as a camera mount. positioning camera rougly 6" above the tarmac. Hmmmm, as a camera mount, I can also set it up as a deployable kickstand.

a 50.1 Husqvarna blower engine.  set of for torque. this is idea. as tall as this engine is may have to take it easy til ibuild a brace for it. although I could use the fuel tank cage as part of a brace
can see part of it behind and underneath the tank. with a t fitting, ill have 2 fuel tanks.

looking up other schematics to make sure but it doesn't look promising.

Know what, selling a blower nearly off season may be a biatch. may end up living on ramen noodles, and saving for an engine i should have purchased lol. anyhoo i may keep the blower for the motohuffy project if unable to sell. ( keeping the motohuffy as secondary, or main once i am able or if able to get legs in working order again. :) heres to hope Eh?. ahh well as the french say before surrendering lol  C'est la vie ( thats life. ) im not worried. ppl make mistakes that are usually costly. but since i bought it second hand, only out a tad less than 200. should be able to recover that.

OR a goped sport, ( needing rings. 15 dollar 15 minute repair, plus boot. considering this, simple, and if done right, quite dependable. gotta get something going by last week. depends on how much boot hes going to offer. that is the deal maker/breaker. if not acceptable, lil pick up that 138 chuinese engine, pop it on and be done.

Can't wait to see the Pig back on the road.. er.. off the road and back riding in the woods i mean!

I've still got my eyes out for a cheapo expansion chamber. I have a busted biturbo for a tomos right now. Missing the baffle and header is all dented to hell. If this other kid doesn't come through with the payment, I'll see if you want it for cheap

Hell yeah, probably a slomos Sprint or ST. If you can get it for a decent price, the resell in there. That's my main cash ped. Lots of them around, and tonz of people fixing theirs. I normally pick them up for ~$100 and either fix and sell, or part em out on mopedarmy.

I'm in the process of clearing the shop before winter gets here and I go off to WV every weekend. Currently have a 01 tomos I'm parting now. So far so good!

found that electric start 49cc engine for 118 shipped from Vancouver area.  now time to sell stuff. maybe my trailtech vapour, and other items to get this going. have plans before end of year to have it rolling.  plus with my diabetes complications as they are. walking after work isn't possible.  not without great pain lol  whether its the pig, or its little sister a sport, ill have a goped on the road soon. either can be done for nearly same price.

ive got a near mint Samsung galaxy s2 up for sale. set up through sprint, called a sph d710 shoots video @ 1080p, has an 8mp still camera iirc a 12gb micro sd card. over 430 songs on it. trying to come up with funds to finish the goped build. lacking a proper exhaust for it. that's about it tbh. will have pictures up soon enough. perhaps tomorrow evening. was thinking 85 or so. perhaps shipped. @ THAT PRICE.  would be breaking even then. clear ESN, no problems to activate. fighting a leg infection that if it goes south, could at worst... well wont go there. but could cost me the leg lol. yay for diabetes Eh?  described what was happening to doc over phone, they waived fee and demanded I come in. said I was about 2 days shy of perhaps losing it. so hoping it works. anyhoo enough of that, it cost me half adays work. got to recoup that. they told me to take some time and stay off of it. but cannot afford to do so. gnarly pics lol. anyhoo, need to perhaps sell phone or trade to finish the goped so I can ride to work instead of walking. will have pics up this evening. err sat.
Would have posted in FS/FT but put it here because of relationship to project.

meeting guy at fountain city duck pond. and exchanging gopeds. he lives in an area I prefer not to go to. and since worship service ends at four its perfect. I go to the temple at 11, get out at 4, meet up at 430 and go home and begin assembly. if all goes well, I might be able to test fire the replacement engine tomorrow night. and cods, planning on using the pigtails on this oen. its perfectly set up for it.

the minipig is here. ive forgotten the size difference on gopeds. sports are tINY. 23lbs wet.  and violent if et up right. it has a new .800 black magic spindle. a 23lh engine complete sans starter. has a blockoff plate on it.  other engine was a 23lh hybrid. aka a 29 top  end on a 23 lower. that one will be rebuilt to that spec. will have 2 engines.  will bring it inside tonight and put up on kitchen bar counter and shoot photos of it.  has anice mag wheel up front. and ive 2 more mach 12. wheels too. tires, are usable as is now. a new tire supposed to be part of deal. a gasket kit as well. saving that for thehybrid. picking up rest of parts after temple meeting next sunday.

I lack maybe 50 to 60 to finish this to near solid perfection. should be rideable wed. but the 850 spindle will be sluggish, but fast. sluggish off the start. but will be dialed in safely once I can get my hands on a pipe. got the new engine ( new to me anyhoo) installed. seller was right. compression is good. I think. anyhoo the spindle did not want to part company with the hybrid. well some percussive persuasion, with a  cat claw ( a pry bar used in roofing)  and my snapon dead blow hammer. popped the spindle off. it is now on the 23lh engine. im back to a Zenoah. YAY. Yeah im turning Japanese, yeah im turning japanes  yeah I think so.... ( or I think that's how song went. ) my Kimball piano loaned me its bench for an assembly stand. leg was bad today, so I was inside after work. performing the work on the minipig. heres the next set of pics.

and more. but alas I am at an impasse. guy rigged it before. using non grade 8 bolts/screws for engine mounts. I wont do htat. ive learned the hard way why one should NOT do that. so I have to order or purchase these parts.
insulator manifold. ( carb /intake manifold) @ 4.25
http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/it.A/id.826/.f
muffler bolts @ 80 cents :)
http://www.davesmotors.com/fd203
and the mounting bolts.
http://www.davesmotors.com/av009b
as well as a kickstand at some point.

Anyone looking for a nice cell phone ( smartphone a  Samsung galaxy s2. records video @ 1080p and plays back at same. make offer I need to move that so I can finish this minipig. I can see the finish line literally. bolt up exhaust, bolt up carb, and put proper mounting bolts in place. and imdone.  the kickstand makes cold starts easier. . its not required but would make starts easier by far.

Spent lunch money on goped parts. No worries. Ill eat balogna sammiches for a few days. As fast as ddm ships, should be on road mid to late next week. Will update next week. Didnt order a pull start. Not enough cash. But being direct drive dont need it.

improivised somewhgat using what I had did what I could so far. nothing else to do until parts arrive. will have to get my hands on a pullstart at some point. cause the initial setup will be a  gripe.  but meh no worries lol. has a blockoff plate to save weight and allows for higher revs.  the 3rd bearing support is in great shape.  so far the piglet is looking good. as a mom would say to her child. I say to that engine I had in palm of my hand, ( engine is TINY compared to my pigs engine.) Awwwweeee, its so Cuuuuuteeeeeeeeee lol
Title: Re: Yama Goped Project

I really want this. it would allow the use of my .850 to its best. plus allows for future engine size upgrades. but have to save cash sadly mayve 2 weeks.  so ill have to use the stock one. it will run like Shiite at low revs. but hey it will run lol.
this is the one I want. instead of an expansion chamber. mainly because of the near stock look. but changing the stinger here, allows for pipe tuning:
hey its almost Christmas lol. but am stoked to have a running ped again. ( once ordered parts arrive. anyhoo enough blabbering Eh?

The minipig has been thoroughly reassembled. going over a few loose ends. then going to try and fire her tomorrow. since it is a direct drive aka no clutch ( using spindle drive) I MUST make sure kill switch works. since I diudnt have funds to get a pull starter, previous owner removed it, and installed a block-off plate ( common) its poush start only. mounted the vstack, tank spacers, tank, engine, the .850 spindle which is too large for this engine. but my only one atm. it will suck balls off the line. but once moving she will fly. engine has great compression. I dry fired it. hard to push thru compression. which is good news. have to trim fuel lines. far too long
sport lines are 12" long each one. at 80 cents each. I don't like having exact length so 20 cents each more I bought lines for a trail ripper ( 2x 24") so I can custom route lines. updates to follow
Title: Re: Yama Goped Project

no more late shots. if yall want pictures lmk ill get them say 7pm at latest. working on it on my piano bench since I don't have a proper stand lol. but ehh tis okay. got the engine on the piglet. basically ready to fuel and test fire it. but must make sure the kill switch works because ill get thrown if it doesn't.
it is direct drive via a spindle. since I couldn't afford a pull start and it has a block off plate installed ( saves weight, and covers where  pull start went)  I have to break it in by push starting. til I get my ducks in a row. since the spindle was meant for a larger engine, 29cc or so, will be a slug off the line. BUT will fly if I hold it. the exhaust I need to get will allow for a bit more off the line. but that's filed under whenever I can.  anyhoo this pic, shot 2 hours ago. more pics to come tomorrow. in BETTER light lol.

p.s. from now on, im calling her "piglet" ( the smaller sibling of the battlepig lol)  my sincerest apologies about the grammar. but its late , not feeling well, and too tired to do much with the grammar lol. anyhoo will update more tomorrow after the test fire.

picked up some copper gasket maker. the goped except for the kill switch is done. may fuel it tomorrow and test it. since its a direct drive. will have to figure out how to kill it. may use my guarded toggle. and mount that by the brake lever. and keep my thumb on it so if it gets away, I just press down killing the spark and stopping the engine.
Title: Re: Yama Goped Project

Aiming to test fire Tuesday evening. have to wait til after doctor visit. things not well. need muscle power since I don't have a pull starter to fit a Zenoah g23lh and the initial firing is a PITA. going to pull engine back off in meantime to make sure it is all tight as it should be. alighn the 3rd bearing support, make sure its where it should be. and is TIGHT. and rig a kill switch. odds are ill use my guarded toggle switch I harvested from ms piggy.

she WILL run, its just the wakin her up that I dread lmao.  doc advised me to keep leg elevated. did I listen? no. I worked from 815am to a tad after 6. the spindle is rated for a 29cc not a 23. but it will work fornow. may grab a 625/650 or a 710. and save the 850 for a larger engine come tax time. looking forward to the firing. was aiming for this evening, but a blood pressure headache, or migraine?, I didn't care for nothing lol. so am going to fire it tomorrow after work. in carport since its calling for rain. and spindle goped do NOT like water at all.

Post by: yamahonkawazuki on December 04, 2013, 06:37:56 PM
ill have to get my hands on a pull start. the 850 spindle isn't allowing for a good push. engine has HEALTHY compression. my chevrolegs however aren't cooperating. since the ER yesterday . so ill BOLO a pullstart for a g23lh pullstart. may try drillstarting it for giggles on the stand.

Contemplating selling my trailtech vapor. to fund the completion of the minipig.  just 2 parts I lack, well 1 really. but to run it properly I should put a smaller spindle on too. but I need the pull start.  and then a long .710 spindle.  so I can make use of the third bearing support and not tax my crankshaft.

Alright ill be damned. parts arrived today. 2 days earlier than planned. DDM rules. anyhoo doing what work I can. cause im battling either another UTI or chronic appendicitis. hurts to turn wrenches. but am doing what I can. got starter mounted, and return fitting mounted too. removing engine to install the drive spindle. here is the pic of the proper spindle. one size up from stock:

That thing is going to scream.

I've had my eye out for a pipe, but the good ones are going quick. Gopedders must be building their winter projects as well!

motohuffy got a shot of life support recently. with imminent shop ownership change, was offered a commercial grade rigid pressurewasher which I promptly snagged for its engine.an almost brand new 6.0hp subarusince bicycle riding wont be easy like it used to, I can build motohuffy up as a trike. got the trike frame sitting in my carport. bolt engine to it, bolt that assy to the huffy after removing rear tire.,  connect throttle, and im done. well clutch and chain too lol. but it will be the minipigs backup or used for cargo. or rainy days.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, after a rudimentary carb adjustment, the minipig runs. sort of. almost better than noworries mouth. then she stops. no biggie, ill dial the carb in after a fresh plug and go from there. looking forward to initial test ride. cept I don't have a kill switch. being a direct drive, that's a requirement. if I can locate my guarded toggle switch, that will suffice.

Chinese lanyard killswitch ordered. only thing left for now is a proper exhaust. once switch arrives, ill be able to ride it to work safely. walking sucks.

Redneck kill switch? Scissors!
Then twist wires together to run. Kill again? Pull apart where you twisted them together. Route over handlebars for quick access.
Wrap around your leg in case you fall off - then your leg pulls apart the wires.

Postponing build until last week of January or first maybe second of feb. legal bills. must pay first. yay for priorities. with income tax coming that will finish build properly. and not half a$$ed. although the CN killswitch will work. its like an atv or jetski lanyard.

build back on track. thank you steezin. sorting thru box of parts you send. and addy, the scooter switch set will work perfectly. ive got a set of horns from a gs I think. anyhoo ill locate a 14 volt or a 12 idk. and power said switch set using it. a horn a light anda running light. not setting this one up for speed. I blew the last one outrunning a ford Taurus they were still dumbfounded when I explained a 4.2hp vehicle which weighed 30-35lbs wet. was outrunning their car. but my left foots days are numbered. so im going to set it up to be a DEPENDABLE point A to B vehicle. there is going to be some representation on this scoot. got to figure out what to name it though. Pig has to be in the name somehow as the last two were. just have to order the upper end. the cylinders plating was flaked off. ( pics tonight at some point. )could use this upper, BUT iot would smoke worse than the product test lab at RJ Reynolds. the lower end is solid though. found a decent price on a 29cc BB kit. going to gear for torque. the banana pipe will help with this. cause I want to build a tow-ped for it at some point. already have most of the parts I need for that one :). anyhoo will update this tonight. with pics.

(http://www.gs500.net/gallery/uploads/9/schwein.jpg) replacing deck with some 1/2" lexan / polycarbonate plastic and some clear longboard grip tape.  enginewise lower is ion great shape, its made for a 23cc but they offer a 29cc big bore upgrade. leaning toward it cause this is being set up as an a/b commuter, trips to doc etc. ( seems to be daily nowadays ) just have to get the clear tape, the 29 upper kit, and a pull start and 2ft of fuel line. well m,aybe 3ft for a tad extra. hope to get this within next 2 mos.  cause im supposed to be off feet, but have to get around. aiming for 15-20 mph no more. the big pig hit almost 50 but thaqt engine blew. I plan on building this engine rock solid. other than the exhaust going on it, there will be no performance parts. will update as I am able
Aaron
p.s I know its messy, but kinda hard to clean it with 1 functioning leg. items in bacvkground are going out with trash run the rigid which the new piug is on, it was bought for its engine. a nearly new 6hp Subaru. may use it to install in fathers generator, or may put gen head on this unit. but right now this pressurewasher cart makes an ok work stand :)
