Title: Handlebars
Post by: dmoore on March 05, 2013, 06:08:31 AM
Greetings All - I'm new to the forum and will have lots of questions over the next few weeks.

I recently bought a '93 GS500E that has straight handlebars. I've seen others like this as well as ones with slightly more elevated and swept back bars. Were there different factory options for bars for this bike? I'd like to swap out the straights for the higher bars but it doesn't look like the brake hoses and control cables would be long enough. Any info would be welcome.

Thanks.

I started writing out a reply, but then realized there is already a good one with pics in the wiki... So, check out this link and it should explain most any question regarding handlebars.

Can anyone with a '93 GS500, or similar year, with stock handlebars give me the measurement for the height at the bend in the handlebar as well as the overall length of the bar from end to end? I bought an aftermarket handlebar and I think it's pretty close to the stock dimensions. Thanks.
