Title: I finally hit the deck! Time for a fork swap.
Post by: Agno on March 16, 2013, 08:21:06 PM
I got a little too brave while fooling around on a fire and lowsided hard onto my left side. Slid off the road and jammed the front wheel into a shallow ditch. From there I was flung ahead of the bike superman style through the rocky ditch. Thanks to full leathers I walked away a little beat up. Wish I could say the same for my sweet little GS. So... which is the easiest USD fork to swap and what pertinent steering head dimensions should I know about while shopping around?

Bent the hell out of the forks

That's one extremely unhappy gs you have there now :nono:

I'm not sure about forks, but some one will chime in on that

Don't know what you have for springs, but I's stay stock with Sonic springs.

Oh, and looks like a new front tire?

It is currently on Sonic Springs. There seems to be a ton of deals on partial and full front ends from modern bikes running USD forks with lots of adjustment. This bike is meant to be a canyon/track day bike so a swap to a new design should be worth it. Any input on which front ends might give me less problems than others? I am not so worried about instrumentation and gauges. More concerned with steering head size issues.
