Just found this so thought I would share
I am sure our US mates have seen it before but I thought it was fantastic
Beginning scene of the new HBO series The Newsroom explaining why America's Not the Greatest Country Any Longer... But It Can Be.
Good way to launch a show :o
They've got my attention.
Seen it 3 times now. Still powerful.
So true.
Today, everything is MONEY. Follow the money and you'll see what is happening and why.
I can go on and on abort all the hypocrisy here. People don't want to take responsibility for their actions and sue because they put hot coffee in their lap and blame McDonalds for not telling her hot coffee is hot. Politicians do not vote for what is right - they vote what their party leader says to do. Democrats oppose anything republican and vice versa. We are so two faced that when women or any color or religious group wants special treatment they get it even though on the other side they tout everyone is the same and equal. Then if white males want something it is racist and bigoted. You can have black entertainment awards and women's entertainment awards but men's entertainment awards is sexist and white entertainment awards is racist. That confuses me.
Every little thing scares us and we do insane things to make us "feel" save or "feel" good. I never have issues wearing my flip up helmet anywhere except one Key Bank branch. No hats or head stuff. Why? Because someone 19 years ago robbed a bank wearing a helmet. Bet if I was wearing a burk-ah, turban or veil they wouldn't say anything because that;s ethnic. Bikers = trouble. Even though when they said that there was a counter camera right in my face!
"zero Tolerance" is just a way to make rules you don't have to think about. If you had to decide what was good/bad or right/wrong then you have to take responsibility for your actions. "zero tolerance" removes any responsibility so when a chile eats a pop-tart into a shape and goes "bank" you expel for anti-violence gun rules because that kid is a safety/terror threat.
Oh, well. Back to work.

I have to take off my helmet when I go to the gas station. Why? Same as above ^^
At work, we have a women's interest group, a religious interest group...but the men's interest group, while allowed, is silently "shunned" because it's not PC.
We as a country used to be tough, and take a stand. Now it's bow down to the squeakiest wheel. Hard to believe the last war we truly won was WWII.
