I use OEM NOS found on ebay or swap meets.  Most liquidate cause they don't know what they have.

Not sure about Fram or other brands like Hiflo, but I say OEM or K&N good.

I have an un-known aftermarket oil filter made for track bikes but i use castrol only in my motorcycles right now, thinking about trying royal purple though

To each his own on this topic... but I'll share my combo and reasons for it... neither are very technical, its just the way things fell for me...

I use the Napa replacement oil filter just because thats the only place in town who successfully ordered the right one out of three others in town   >:(

... and I stock up on oil when Auto Zone has a sale... they have had the cheapest I've seen anywhere for Valvoline 10W40 Motorcycle Oil when they have it on sale... I buy a case and its only  about $2.50/bottle...  Every other place in town sells it for at least $5 dollars/bottle even when its on sale at those locations.  I buy that particular oil because I only have to read the product name and I don't have to think, I know it will work in my bike without issue. Period.  ...which this reminds me, that sale should be coming up again soon...

I was going to go with napa and ordered the filter online and would pay in store (as i was going to get oil etc there also). I wait a few days and no phone call that its in. So i call and the guy is like "oh hmm I don't know".  So i ebay K&N.

I don't mind listening to others combinations, oil seems to get talked to death but people hardly discuss filters or why they use that combination.

My understanding is fram is not a good filter, but i have been running them in my truck for 5 years with no problem, and I'm no no means an angle when i comes to changing oil on time in the truck. However next oil change i will be moving away from fram for good just because of the study's on the're filters vs others.
