its not only not smart.... its false advertising!!! ... that cant be more than a 80degree angle!!.... you need 360 to make the full circle as the side of the truck is quoting!!  :D

he musta been moving along pretty well... those chassis rails dont snap like that too often!!

about 5 years ago a coal truck... like this one ..or pretty close to it

was travelling back from the steelworks to the mine head to reload .... towards this bridge ..

at about 90km/h , 60mph roughly .. in the photo he was coming from the other way down that slope onto the flat area.. the driver had been playing with the switches in tha cab trying to get something going.. (and there can be a lot of buttons!!) something went wrong with the safety locks and switches on the hydraulic tipper pack .. and it started going up pretty quick ... apparently people were honking and yelling and pointing .. but young mate being a fully legendary driver of some 2 years experience ignored them..

about where that truck is in the photo (right side just about to go under bridge) .. he allegedly glanced in his mirrors and noticed "the truck shadow looked all weird" .. his conscious brain may have been puzzled but his right foot knew to 'stamp on the brakes and lock them solid'... which didnt really help .. the boom was already 2.5 sections up and the top half of the front of the tipper body slammed the steel support beams...

didnt actually damage much of the bridge .. the city engineers checked and said while there had been movement laterally the structure had returned to its original position...

the driver returned to the unemployment queue .. which may seem a little harsh .. but if he hadnt been fooling with the switches at random... and if he had paid attention to the people trying to warn him ..  :dunno_black:

the boom was bent and the top section torn from the lower seal ... the trailer front end was mangled... but it was all bodgy repaired and gets used as a 'yard truck tipper' as far as i know...

and i missed seeing it by maybe 20 seconds!!!... i was driving same direction and just saw a blaze of cars brake lights and a huge cloud of coal dust settling... the driver was getting out and looking up like the bridge suddenly jumped out of hiding and bit his truck...

funny and scary!!

He was just trying to find a faster way to recycle that decrepit cross walk.
