Title: Fuel tank restoration
Post by: GSBRY on March 25, 2013, 09:59:24 AM
My tank is off the bike and drained.  (ran the crappy gas in my lawnmower lol)  I can hear like a slush sound when i rock tank back & forth.  It definitely needs cleaned out.  What is the going rate for a shop to do this?  Really don't wanna buy a new tank since mine is dent & rust free externally.  Thanks guys!!

It depends on the condition of the tank. If it's just the crud you need removed a radiator shop will flush it for anywhere from $30-$50 depending on who you take it to. Call around and get a few quotes. If you want it etched and coated you're looking at about $100. I live in a large city so the cost of everything is higher. Protecting the finish is a big issue unless you're going to repaint it. If so, do that AFTER it's flushed.
