I need to replace the crank on my 97 and picked up an 09 for $200 but its locked up. Will the 09 crank take the 97 ignition rotor in the correct time? or will the 97 cdi work with the 09 rotor?
If the 09 engine is locked up, what makes you think the crank is any good?
the $200 i paid for the entire bike made not mind too much if the crank was good. But my messed up 97 crank makes me hope the crank is good.
You can use the new engine by swapping the timing pickup and rotor. You will need to get an electronic tach. 04+ has electronic tach and no place for the teach cable to go in.
If you get it working, please let me know. I did an engine swap on a 2001 bike, but I am having issues (that could be stemming from the timing rotor)
I havent run any gauges for a long time anyway so im not worried about the tach. But the slot that lines the old pickup rotor on the crank is in the same location on both cranks? Thats all I really need to know I guess. I see no other issues.
