Title: Citation? Permit? uhhhhh........
Post by: SirBlueKoala on March 29, 2013, 09:28:36 PM
Yeah....so I recently took a little road trip to my hometown which was about 350 miles.  Along the way I took pictures, met some few new people, helped some people along the way, oh! and I was pulled over for speeding. With a m1 permit. On a highway. Anyways he said he clocked me at 74 in a 55 zone. I knew I was speeding but thats cause I thought that I was doing around 60 since my speedometer likes to jump back and forth. It was bouncing from 60 to 70ish. I told the officer it was bouncing so he put 60+ on my speed. Anyways my real question was what are my consequences of a citation besides paying it and taking a class?

If law is like US law orperhaps canadian, or elsewhere, if you pay it usually amts to a guilty plea. could go before a judge, explaining the bouncing speedometer, may cut you some slack. may outright dismiss it. then again , may be having a crappy day and throw book @ you. but a drivers ed class if offered, TAKE IT.

You don't say where you are, but I saw one of your posts where you mentioned Sacramento.
Don't you have the class option in CA to dismiss a ticket? (Providing you haven't used the get out of jail free class lately.)

Have receipts to prove that your speedo was fixed or calibrated and the judge MAY grant some leniency.

Happened to me once in Indiana on an old honda accord. Fought the speed and the judge lowered the offense, but didn't completely remove it.
