My bike was running a lil funny nd wasn't getting full power all the way thru the throttle nd I thought it was the carb cause I knew I had gotten some crap in my tank.... So a friend of mine nd I cleaned it out. It's running 100 % better then it was nd is not acting up at all but now it's backfiring a lot. Sometimes it will do it every time I slow down or shift down. We didn't take the carb all the way apart or off the bike. We just took the air box off the back nd sprayed carb cleaner in the holes where that connects. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Just spraying carb cleaner into the intake like that very likely wouldn't get the carb completely clean and you may be seeing the results of that.
When it backfires, is it a loud bang, or just repetitive popping on deceleration?
We didn't just spray the intake, we took the whole intake box off nd spray into the actual carb.... It does both of those types of back fire tho.
Perhaps I should be more specific, into the intake side of the carburetor. There are many little passages within the carburetor (mostly in the bottom) that you'll never see from that angle and carburetor cleaner most likely wouldn't get into.
A loud bang will usually mean your mix was off. Since you said it's mostly when you're decelerating, have you checked your idle mix screws?
Your symptoms are classic leanness. Took the airbox off and now has loud popping on decel?... Sounds like you need to make sure those intake boots are seated properly. That is the most common place for an air leak... And an air leak is what you have, no question about it.
