Title: Lunchbox / Stock can (I know, I know, another one)
Post by: NjDan on April 11, 2013, 03:20:39 PM
So due to me being about the poorest guy on planet earth and wanting to increase the performance of the bike I want to add a lunchbox and keep the stock can

I know its been done successfully before so if you've done it what jet sizes have you run that worked?
washers?
turns out?

also best place to buy the jets?
thanks again everyone

Have you checked the wiki yet?

You can get the jets from Buddha (a moderator here), but any decent bike shop should have them in stock as well. And the shims are just washers from Radio Shack.

I've got a dynojetted gs with a stock can and a lunchbox.  Runs fine.  The longer I run this I don't understand the hate for it.

I've gotta be tempting some gods, but frankly, I think it's a bunch of people poo pooing things they tried once, didn't nail, and moved on from.

I did drill out one of the baffle plates in the exhaust with a 14 inch drill bit straight down the tailpipe, and it made a small but noticeable difference in the breathing of the bike and noise.

I also don't know what pilot jet is in there.  I know it's not stock, but I also have (compared to the horror stories here) about the easiest starting gs in the world.  Sub 45 requires a titch of choke for like 10 seconds at most.  All summer I never even touch the choke.  I started it this winter down to about 17 degrees, and it's stored outside.

Main jet is a Dynojet 128, with the rest of the dynojet innards in the carb.   Works fine, don't listen to the grouches.

I forgot to add I'm running second notch on the needle from the top.  Bottom half of the throttle is a teensy bit rich maybe but I don't really care.  If it's really hot I get a tiiny surge going on.
