Title: What the jinkies is a #4 washer?
Post by: Destiny2191 on April 15, 2013, 05:24:40 PM
 Good day/evening!

I'm rejetting my GS500 over the next few days and I've read that I'll need 2 'number 4 / #4' washers? I think I have the correct 'British' conversion measurements, but I'd like somebody to confirm for me?

Cheers in advance, Carl

The #4 refers to the size of the washer.  It is a machine size designation based on ASME standards.  It is "small".  About the diameter of a pencil eraser and a through hole a little bigger than a pencil lead.

Used the same size washers to shim the carb needle on my KLR years ago.

Go to a real hardware or a fastener store.  Ask them for a #4 washer, and you'll be set.

Go to a big-box retailer, and the #4 washer is in the appliance aisle.

Appreciate the replies!

I just need the British equivalent! Or the dimensions of said #4 washer!
