Title: Vance and Hines Exhaust
Post by: tjh8 on April 16, 2013, 04:57:41 PM
Im fairly new to the gs500, i bought mine a few months and i had to do a few upgrades to it. I got a lunch box air filter, new jets are on their way, and a vance and hines slip on.  But, im not sure about the vance and hines exhaust. i got it used and i was surprised to see it is pretty much a straight through muffler. Is that how its supposed to be? Im not sure about the exhaust, i orginally wanted to get a shorty muffler from another bike but couldnt find one.

Im fairly new also but the only v&h system made for the gs is a full exhaust...if you have the f model then youll have to remove it to change your oil

Yep that's  how it is. It's a performance exhaust so you sacrifice quiet riding for louder sounds and a little more HP gain. I've been thinking about putting in a little ring that makes the diameter of the output smaller to muffle the sound a little more, but I'll probably end up just getting another exhaust to put on.

Nope. I have one on Junior. No problem at all changing oil.

I jammed a Jardine silencer in mine. V&H doesn't have a silencer insert. I made the Jardine QMI2 fit with little effort (bang it in).
