So long story short, some lady in an SUV tried to park in an adjacent spot to the bike and knocked her over. The fall cracked both mine and my wife's helmets, scratched the right hand mirror, and ruined our day. Luckily, the magical frame sliders saved what could have been more damage.
I'm just venting, so hope the rest of you guys have a better day than me
Man that sucks, did the mirror stem survive? I lost my mirror and ended up with a small hole in the fairing when mine went for a tip.. OEM mirrors are hideously expensive..
Helmets are a whole heap worse though..
Better day, yes, just published a 400 pager for client issue - new windscreen and handlerbar risers on my GS - and the forecast is for a finish weekend
I've been going to physio the last couple weeks. I part the car, come out and some dickwad is parked at an angle partially in my bay. Has happened the last 4 times in a row WTF. Once, the car on either side of me parked this way WFTx2??
The other day (Wed) I took a pic to show. I come out of today's physio, same thing, so another pic. I'll post them up once I get them off my phone.
Mate I hear ya'... so many people just don't give a shaZam! any more... park anyway they feel like, ding your car/bike/whatever, basically they only care about themselves and have no consideration for others... it's become a bit of a way of life for some...
Glad to hear the damage is minimal but is the driver paying for your damage?
I got side swiped by a ute changing lanes without looking/indicating just before Christmas and had to get my pipe repaired, and then last Monday I got rear ended by a guy who reckons his foot slipped off the brake pedal. Now I need to get my rear guard and tail light repaired.
On the upside, bike is still rideable, I'm not injured, and I have a last minute opportunity to go riding in the sun tomorrow... life is good!
It's not just in parking where drivers don't think about anyone but themselves. I've almost been run off the road three times in the last three days by morons who either aren't looking, or are too busy texting/talking to care what else is going on around them. And this in my car...a much larger object than my GS.
I always try to park where no one else can park close to me or park way out in the back. On the rare occasions I can't and someone parks really close, I normally fold their mirrors back or lift the windshield wipers off the glass. I drive a big truck and although I can drive it and park it in any tight spot I wanted, other people can't drive a small car and will hit the truck because they can't judge their distance or don't know their turning radius.
My first street bike got backed into and knocked over 2 days after I got it. Lady at work didn't see it the spot when when she backed in. lesson learned, now I always park at the opening of the spot so it's easy to see. Never so far in that tards can't see it before they pull in.
My first bike was a Honda CB360. It was a rat, but looked good and no dents. I got to work early and parked in one of the front spots. Later in the afternoon, somebody said to me "hey have you looked at your bike?" I went out and the tank was all caved in.
I asked around and one of the managers pulled into the space and somehow did not see my bike and hit it. She got a couple employees to help pick it up and left it there as if I wouldn't notice.
When I found out who did it, I confronted her, and she and the owner of the company tried to explain that it was my fault because she parked in that spot all the time. I said I would file a claim with her insurance, and quickly the responsible woman wrote me a check for the cost of a new gas tank.
People really do think motorcycles are not real vehicles, and do not deserve the same treatment.
I quit working for that shiit company, and extracted my revenge upon them. Though the statute of limitations has long run out, I will not say what I did.
i just get even where it counts. gal i worked with went on a power trip. a total bîtch if you will. i said nothing ( statute of limitations has long run out as well ;) )best $60 i ever spent. i go to 2 places for supplies. walmart, ( epoxy) and the local adult toy store. i purchase a 4' long dildo drill out its centre. she parked her vehicle behind store. i get to it, at beginning of shift. smear epoxy on car antenna, then attach dildo to it. 9 hours lader it is NOT coming off. then apply copiuous amounts of ky jelly to car doors, and gear shifter. she had to drive home through city with antenna still attached ;). she asked me to help her undo that attachment. i politely declined. said , no way in hell am i touching that. btw who did you piss off?

Funny enough this is the subject of my next vlog with a couple examples. I have 3 pet peeves. People who can't keep on their designated side of the road, people who don't indicate, people who can't park.
And Yamma that's classic we'll done mate.
btw cant stand folks that cannot drive. nor can i stand riders that cannot ride.
After reading some of your guys' experience, I came out lucky. Everything's fine on the bike aside from a few scratches but the wife's and my helmet both cracked so we need those replaced. and I did file a claim for insurance, so hopefully I get to buy some fancy new helmets for us both! :thumb:
