Title: Waynes old/new GS500F
Post by: wayne242 on April 19, 2013, 04:38:21 PM
You guys know what happned to my former gs500f.. In the end it all turned out great for me, I took the insurance money and bought a bike with bad engine to put my old one in and had buddy paint tail section black (it was white, but front panels same as my old one). I then took what was left to pay off the transmission shop who did my trucks tranny work. Just show's there is always a bright side to every sad moment in life.

This will just be a place holder until i save up founds to start the mod project on it(I should have founds saved by end of next month).

Anyhow my planes as followed:
Clip ons(first thing for sure)
bar end mirrors.
Turn singles.
Find 2 fairing brackets it is missing.
LED light effects (ordered weeks ago and been tied up in customs forever).
LED brake light strips
Relocation of foot pegs(not sure what i need, but sure i can find it on this forum).
New tires- 140 in rear(if i have to do mods then 130).
New clutch/brake leavers (taking suggestions on this)
halo light(very last thing to be done).

I'll post pics of how bike look now once my buddy is done wiring etc, its pretty much exactly like my wrecked one(same paint scheme).

P.S: I should have got be for and after pics of the new bike but was not in the mood at the time, so sorry about that.

Update..

I got bike home finally. The bike looked better in pics then in person, as i bought it with out going to see it and my buddy picked it up.. None the less for what i paid for it i cant complain.

The gas tank as a lot of little scratches in it, but seem to be to the clear coat? Anyone know if a buffing will remove these?

Other then that there is one small dent that you cant really see unless you now its there (I find it only cause the garage light reflected off it and caught my eye).

The front fairing/light is broke on the inside(underside of it by headlight area). I guess that's not a big deal since fairing etc and mirrors hold it on also.

There is also a crack in front fairing when it was laid down in its passed life i guess, as small scrap around the crack. Again no big deal for now.

P.S: How do i re-size images?

Scratches in the clear can be wet sanded and buffer out IF not too deep.

New turn singles came in today and the only thing i dislike about them is chrome(they where out of black).. I might try to paint them black later.

However the flasher does not flash these, it might flash them once are twice but thats it. They flasher flashers the old ones so i think its because the new ones have a smaller bulb.

Ignore the mess, my buddy was working on his bike on other side of those chairs.. So we had stuff all over the place :dunno_black:

Old ones were 1156's and new ones are T10's.

Get an LED flasher and you'll be able to use what ever bulbs you want.

by the way, those are really easy to break if you push them backwards.

I found that if you take the screw out of the back and pull the casing off the stem, you can superglue the cover to the base and then put the screw back in.

I bought a few sets and have broken two already before I glued every one of them.

Also I replaced the bulbs with these  http://www.ebay.ca/itm/160991009292?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

No, those are the ones weed sent me along with plate.

I think the correct answer, based on weed's thread, would be "not Vortex branded, but very similar in construction and function." :thumb:

Yeah, I'm sure John was just trying to start it up again so he can play with his banana hammer some more.

I have hit them a few times with my leg walking passed the bike and have not broken yet. However I'm sure the more the get sun cooked the weaker they will become. I only paid $5 shipped for 4 of them, so can't complain if they do break later down the road :thumb:

I hear ya.  They go for 2.99 for a set. Might as well buy a few sets for the hell of it :P

Also, these work well in them.

Light mods look similar to mine. Were you peaking at my bike by chance? :P
