Title: airbox drain hose cap how important its sealed?
Post by: Snake2715 on April 28, 2013, 07:39:33 PM
Ok so my bike has just 7500 miles and I finally got it back together today and went for the first 12 mile ride  :woohoo:

I have some final touches to do and realized my air box drain hose has the cap on it. It seems almost super glued or sealed on the hose. The back side of the cap has a small crack. So yesterday I put some black sealant on it, but now I am wondering how it will drain if its completely sealed off? I realize if the bike is running correctly that water should expel out that hose.

So would someone be kind enough to enlighten me. Should that cap be stuck on the hose? Will a small crack on the backside hurt anything?

That cap should be split across the end and you squeeze it to drain out any accumulated water in the hose/box.  It should be there, it keeps it from dripping out until you drain it.

gsJack,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I will check it out tomorrow after work.. I know my xr400 is split at the end so maybe I missed that completely. It was cracked on the backside however so the water is getting out.
