I was putting my bike back together today in the hopes of firing it up for the first time this spring. (now that it feels like spring here in michigan) WHen I went to reattach the tank, i looked at the wiki to check the hose routing and I found something interesting. The two hoses in the attached image were switched. My bike was running fine like this, but shouldn't have not sun at all?

It would run as the carb line and one tank line were reversed. In the correct position, fuel will flow. It doesn't care which direction it flows. Probably you didn't have a reserve OR yu were always on reserve.
Check the orientation of the tank petcock.
I always remove the tank by removing the connections at the tank petcock. Therefore, one hose goes to the front, one to the rear.
Whatever works for you to be easy to remember.
The tank petcock is pictured from the right side (looking at shutoff screw) and the frame petcock from the left side in those old fiche drwgs so the long (res) and short (on) tubes on the tank petcock are reversed relative to the frame petcock confusing everyone for 24 years. :icon_lol: I sorted them out a few years ago to clarify, there are 3 different frame petcocks but all tank petcocks are the same. They hook up like this (all pictured from left side):

This picture in wiki is also correct for 89-00 bikes:

It's only on the 01-02 years that the res and on lines actually cross.
I just try to remember that the reserve line goes on the long nipple.
