getting ready for my annual trip up to penna to see my dad and brother and some old friends for a week of trout drinking as wee call it. lots of fishing and good times. any of you guys fly fish? i have a few patterns you will never find in any books that i have found work well on the home streams. any care to share there "secret patterns". will post some pics of my 2 favorites when i can find my damm camera!
I made a couple fly's once. Talk about needing patience! My dad loved to fly fish, I never could get the hang of it. I was always partial to using lures.
i started when i was 12, i am 48 now. i still cuss allot. :wink just gotta have fun at it.

the flies ARE lures. whatcha talkin about. i wanted to learn. never tried tho cept for one time. wasnt pretty
heck i look at some of the stuff i tied up 20 years ago and say..who the hell tied that thing....oh it was me. like riding a bike, just take practice. just amazes me sometimes some of the works of art people will put on a hook to catch a fish. i have found the simplest patterns work the best.

I am so glad we don't get pike here.. maybe we should start a fishing thread - recommended spots / lures / flies etc.
OldMech started one a while back - could hijack it..

:D ahoy mateys!! .. we be boardin ye!! ;)
I don't fish for flies. Fortunately I don't have many. A rolled up newspaper usually takes down flies. I don't think I have a regular fly swatter anymore.
most fly fishermen tie up our own flies of different types so it looks like we caught more than the other guy :)
