so what do you fellas recommend for a new tire? :dunno: i have a Maxxis street 110/70 in the front (it came with the bike)
Be the first on your block to try the Avon AM51/52 stock size combo... you can pick up a set from www.mawonline.com for about $100.00...
Or you could try the Maxxix Promaxx (about the same price) and they also come in stock sizes...)
Both tires are supposed to be good economical tires made for smaller commuter bikes (i.e. GS500, EX500...) with good mileage, good grip, and good wet weather grip (an all around good tire, I guess...).
I plan to try them once I need them, so...

GSJack recommended the Avon Azaros... They're the shaZam!!!!! I ran Dragon's tail and they grip great and looking awesome.
Got 140/80/17 (If I remember right) on the rear and my GS no longer looks like a moped.
Take a look at them at South West Moto Tires. They got the best price around ($189 delivered) and the owner is cool as hell!!!
//www.swmototires.com<--I think
Oh and whatever you do dont get IRC's. They're way too hard and I almost lowsided twice when I had them
:guns: Cheap Chinese tires
Check http://www.dtmaonline.com/
I was quoted rigth at $176.00 for 110/80 and 140/80 Avon AV 45/46s. With shipping it is $198.00.
They are on my latest wish list, to be ordered mid Feb. And I'm liking the free shipping of SouthWest MotoTires!!!

Pirelli Sport Demons are another new bias ply alternative that actually comes in stock sizes (130/70-17R and 110/70-17F). They're about $10 more at parts411.com than the usual Bridgestone BT45s and they look a hell of a lot better.
A buddy of mine has a rear SD on his 96 Zephyr and he loves it. His riding has improved significantly since he got it, probably just due to higher confidence level. I'll probably purchase a set of these around march or so.
:? ive got irc's on mine, never had probs yet, either in the dry or in the wet. except when i was leaned over (far) in a turn and caught the painted stripe in the road, back end skipped out a little. course i warm mine up before i ride anywhere near hard, go figure. :dunno:
BT45's!!!!!!!
