Title: Pressure washers
Post by: john on May 04, 2013, 10:53:23 AM
Would be nice to have and I have a need for one.  But I have a thing about using them on a bike due to exposed electronics.  Anybody use one?  Any issues?

I know cheap homeowner washers need TLC and pump conditioner after use to prolong life of the pump.  There are two models for $300 that have honda gcv motors.  At least the motor is good.

Number one thing I've been told regarding pressure washers... don't use them around the steering stem or chain, or you'll get water into the bearings/through the o-rings, respectively. As far as electronics, disconnect the battery and give it a day in the sun to dry off afterwards and you don't have to worry about it.

I've taken my bike through the 'magic wand' type car washes a few times without bothering anything, not sure how much your pressure washer would differ.

I just use the house water hose with half the pressure of it to wash mine.

I've washed my bikes in the magic wand type car washes since I started riding almost 29 years ago.  No serious problem yet, just wet plug caps that need dried sometimes.
