ok, got my Fiamm horn on the bike expecting a great improvement and a deafening note!!!!
Unfortunately it is not as loud as the stock horn. :(
The Fiamm highway blaster that I bought is supposed to have a 132db tone, but I have no way of measuring it. My unscientific testing was to hook the Fiamm up, and hit the horn a few times. I then put the stock horn on and hit it a few times and was much more startled by the stock horn than the Fiamm. I am not sure if the stock horn is louder, or just more annoying, but it did get my attention better.
Also, the Fiamm was much larger and would not clear the front fender when the forks got compressed. I could tell that under hard braking it was going to leave a dent in the front fender!!
Oh well, 12 bucks or so wasted, unless I can get it in my car..........just hoping someone else will heed the warning and leave the horn alone.

On my vulcan 750 I have fiamm type knock offs. They are louder than the stockers for sure, they however are more pleasant, and sound more like a mellow car horn... which I believe makes people respect you a bit more. The vulcan had twin dual tone horns stock. Cant see how the fiamm cant be better than the GS's stock one.

Just a small note - when you installed the horn, you want to make sure you do not crank down on the bolt holding it in place. These horns are very sensitive to the amount of pressure you apply to the bolt. The FIAMM horns are, WITHOUT A DOUBT, much louder. You may also need to unscrew the bolt that is installed on the horn itself - the bolt that appears to do nothing but sit there...

What bolt... they have that grommet and came with 2 washers and 2 nuts... Its got some body ground mechanism, hence if you connect fit it on without a grommet or something it basically is hard wired to ground. Hence if the bike has the power connected to the horn, and the switch does the grounding ... like some honda's had, that would mean the horn will never stop blaring. Anyway my vulcan had the grommets and that prevented that.

Fiamms need more current than the weeny stock wiring will supply. You really need to run heavier wires, and use the stock wiring to trigger a relay.
My BMW has dual Fiamms, and they are way louder than my car. Scares the crap out of other cars - they think they cut off a semi or something.

this is exactly what i need. this is a f&*%$ng lifesaver in NYC. My puny stock horn has saved my a$$ several times already, but sometimes, when people hear the puny GS horn, they still don't care... However, if I could trick them into thinking they were about to get slammed by a semi.... hmmmm....
anybody have a LOUD compact (maybe even dualtone) setup actually working on a GS (i mean fitting w/o hitting the front fender). can you post model numbers/sugestions please.. I don't care about rewiring.. adding a relay is no problem...
what model horns are the LOUDEST :o and will fit the GS properly?
