Title: carburetor
Post by: Haleys500 on May 20, 2013, 02:08:48 PM
I am having problems with the carburetors on my 1990 twin. The L carb is not working at idle. I can take off the spark plug and nothing happens. I also have a bad dead spot just off idle and I have to rev the engine when pulling out just to get past this dead spot. All other throttle ranges are fine. I did clean and adjust the carbs and they where not that dirty. Any ideas?

Probably a clogged idle jet. Clean or replace it.

Did you pull out all your jets and make sure they are clear? I made that mistake with my pilots and had the same issue. If you pull them out you can use a twisty tie from some bread and use that to poke through the hole. Just shave it down with a knife and it'll go through easy. Since I did that I've had no issues.
