Okay, so I have installed an R1 LED tail light with integrated turn signals. It came with 20W 8Ω resistors. Wired it up but after just a couple blinks the resistors are insanely hot. SO i did some research and have been seeing differing opinions on how to avoid it. Am I understanding that an electro-mechanical flasher like this one http://www.pepboys.com/product/details/8436166/00276/?quantity=1 will allow the led signals to blink without resistors?
Correct. Ditch the resistors - they are nothing but trouble IMO. They defeat the purpose of getting led signals if you are trying to save current draw.
I can't verify that particular flasher will work however. If not, check out the flasher relays at WWW.superbrightleds.com
We use load resistors on HID retrofits for certain vehicular applications but I would not use them on bikes when LED relays are available. I have one on mine I bought off ebay for a couple bucks and it works great. All my turn signals are LED
You got a part number weeds? All mine are also LED, and I want to not buy the wrong one.
Got my relay today and my turn signals WORK!! But now I have another interesting symptom.
When I engage my right turn signals, the dash light flashes, but when I engage Left the dash light stays off. Any ideas?

Is your indicator an LED?
Is it a polarized LED? If so, you need a non-polarized one or do the 2 diode modification.
Not sure if polarized or not. It's just a cheap led 194na replacement. Won't a non polarized make all 4 signals flash simultaneously?

Flipped it in the socket, it is polarized.
