Remember last year when the rotor on Phenix came loose?
It appears to have just now happened to Suzi. Starter spins and occasionally grabs the engine. The occasional grabbing means it is not the starter gear coming unbolted from the rotor.
Interesting that the direction the starter drives the rotor is the same direction to unscrew the bolt that holds it on and there is no key to keep it from spinning loose. That I think is a deficiency in the design. Or wouldn't a reverse thread on the rotor bolt prevent that since the force of starting would tighten the bolt?
Next week I was planning on taking Suzi out of service for a week to check all bolts, wiring and do valve adjustment.

That sounds correct to me ... like the retaining nut for my table saw blade (blade spins counter-clockwise, nut loosens counter-clockwise), or the bolt that pinches a washer against the top of the drum on my oscillating spindle sander (reverse threaded, but bolt loosens in the direction that the drums spins). Looked at the other way, the nut / bolt
tightens in the direction
opposite the normal spin ... which is the direction that inertia acts when the part spins up.
